The corporate office sent us some motivational aids. In other words they send us a whole bunch of "stress balls" that have a nasty chemical smell. If you touch your eyes after squeezing ball your eyes start to itch :|

So one of my co-workers gutted it and let it bleed into the garbage can.

I work at a bakery, and its pretty cool.  The managers are young, and chill.  We do stuff, and we get our crack at free food.  Amazing free food.  My manager was rolling a joint during store hours.

Sweeting your ass off,  customers constantly pissed at you, customers bent on ruining your company name, coming home physicaly tired every day, if you don't bleed today you didn't work hard enough, employees whining about getting paid even though you haven't been paid on a job in weeks. ---- contractor work sucks ass, if you have an office job feel blessed.

I have the BEST job. I am a Firefighter/EMT.
I get to ride in and drive firetrucks and ambulances code 3 (lights and sirens). Its still cool without the lights/sirens on though. I get to go into burning buildings, be on scene at car accidents, and walk into peoples homes with open arms(for the most part).
When we are not doing any of the above, we have daily chores (washing trucks, sweeping floors, cooking, etc) and training. After chores and training are finished we: sleep, lift weights, play football/frisbee/frisbee-football, play video games on the big-screen, use the internet, or just kick back and watch TV.
Oh, yeah, I only work 10 days a month. 24hrs on 48hrs off. Lots of time for a second job.
Couldnt think of anything Id rather do!

I get to work in dirty, dusty construction sites that are overflowing with illegal aliens, most of whom speak horrible english and give you that "deer in the headlights look" when you ask them if they understand what you just told them to do to complete the task at hand. I get to use extremely nasty j-johns that get abused by such said workers as well... I get to deal with engineers that can't draw a set of blueprints that are actually accurate. I also get to deal with incompetent purchasing and shipping agents, that make getting a job done by deadline hard to finish. I also get to deal with general contractors that think they know what's going on and in reality don't have a clue about how trades operate. Man, I could go on...Spare yourself, the money is nice but I sometimes wonder about the headaches that go with it!!!!

Some days, it's strange to realize that what I do is "work."

I remember the thoughts going through my head following a raid while riding in the back of a Chinook after being on the go for 30 hours, sweaty, dirty, physically exhausted, mentally drained, and yet feeling very accomplished and privileged to be able to do what I do.  I looked at my buddies and said, "Dudes, we just got paid for that."

We'll be taking apart a turbine engine, looking at chicks through the FLIR, or sitting in the office talking shit to each other and I sometimes have to remind myself that I'm making money.  I'll turn a wrench for 20 hours straight, then wake up in the morning excited to go and do it all over again.

I can't think of any other job where the amount of responsibility given and the privileges had match that of my current occupation.

We are given a weapon, all the gear we need, any vehicle we need with all the gas you can burn, and a sense of pride that nothing can compare to.

Sometimes it sucks, but I'd say that this is the most "fun" job I've ever had.

Working at [name withheld] doing the retail thing and drinking beer with pals in the back room was cool when I was going to college, but nothing compares to this.

I get to work with fun things such as extreme heat & cold, strong acids, bases and everyone's favorite mustard gas.  I'll just leave it at that.

Are you a pool man too?

Ahhh, no  :)

Don't get me wrong. Love what I do, including those fun items I get volunteered to do  ;)

Cool man.  I'm in the interview process right now for a job as an EMT with PMT Ambulance.  I'm really hoping I get this one.  I have a lot of respect for FFs, though.  After going on a few ridealongs and doing a few clincals, it became apparent that you guys do a whole lot more than just fight fires.

If I get this job, I only have to drive about 5 minutes from campus and then get to drive the ambulance to whatever city I'm working in, so I hardly have to use any personal gas money.  And they have a paramedic school, which is yet another perk.  I'll probably wind up doing basic stuff at first like nursing home transfers and whatnot, but I'm just happy to get my foot in the door.

Know the feeling, Bro! I was a volunteer Firefighter/EMT (one of the first my Dept. had) for about 5 years back home.

Remember the old addage "Firefighters have to be crazy. Driving through busy streets - hanging onto the back of a truck - to go to a burning building, and then WALK INTO IT..... Yeah, crazy"

Volkswagen North Scottsdale. part of Penske Automotive.

when im not getting paid to drive cars, im getting paid to sit and BS with the salesmen. no big screen or anything, but when there's a big enough game on, you'll find the salesmen up there watching.

Sometimes i like to go to the LPO (luxury pre-owned) building and drool over the ferrari's, lambo's, astons, spykers, bentleys, rolls, maybachs, and any exotic that doesn't have its own store on site.

I work in a building that's underground.

I'm on a computer for the most of the day creating intel products for MITTs, the Ft. Riley CoS, and the G2 and CG of 1ID.

The acronym ACE certainly isn't a synonym for fun, but working there is still enjoyable.
