The concept is nice but he realy should have made one for real though. That kind of station will only get someone killed, "oh shit zombies commin up the hill, get the kit out!!" "what do you mean the knife cant cut butter???, the shotgun is from the 99cents store?? and the shells are hotglued to the back of the box?"

That is like stocking your pantry with empty cans, it looks realy nice untill you are hungry.

It'd probably be best to make your individualized kit for now anyway.

My zombie defense kit includes a .30 m1 carbine and a metal mesh shark suit. screw the arm shield! Go and read "The Zombie Survival Guide" by Max Brooks. Its all the info anyone would need to know to overcome the eventual zombie infestation!

Read it already, then I remembered I found it in the humor section  :P

Besides there doesn't seem to be a big shark problem in Arizona, where pray tell would I get one on such short notice  ;)

Any decent Dive Store should either have one, or can order one for you ;)

Even though it was found in the humor section, it makes good points. The book, though hilarious, is the perfect guide if it were serious. Also I am going to be prepared, so i'll have my shark suit way before the outbreak.  8)

What Ganef said.

Now, if the uprising is caused by a virus, that kit will only do you harm.  Blood mist from a close-quarters shotgun blast will enter your mucus membranes and take control of surrounding cells = your f*cked.  That shield ain't gonna do shit but get covered in blood and be useless.

Now, my ideal kit would include, among other items:

-Aramid fiber overgarments to protect from not only teeth punctures but also flashfire from...

-firebombs, either hastily devised improvised devices or OTS systems used for burning of the dead or in crowds of zombies.  If it don't kill em, it'll make em hard and crispy enough to slow em down some.

-full stock, long mag shotgun, with a smaller caliber like 16ga.  Let's be realistic, a 16ga to the dome is taking off just as much as a 12ga, but with less overall weapon system weight and higher capacity.

-SWS or scoped sport rifle, semi auto or bolt action.

-Chem/bio overgarments to wear when strolling through an infected area for more ammo or food.  Including...

-NBC-rated promask/CBRN respirator or filtermask with blower.  Sucking air through a filter with your adrenaline rushing really sucks and can lead to hyperventilation.  The blower would come in handy.

-A Glock - self explanatory

-A nice 1911.  When that time comes, you've got to take yourself in style.

Hey azsarge,

Does the Army still have some less than lethal crowd control devices? I think I remember seeing a foam spraying device that upon contact with people pretty much stuck to them like white on rice and impeded their movement greatly.

Zombies are already slow, coupled with their lack of coordination, I think that sticky foam would probably neutralize them in a jiffy, assuming you could come into possession of some.

fire is a bad idea. a fired wont incapacitate a zombie as fast as it would to the living. if you holding up in a house  or some building, you could be in a bad situation fast. say that zombie you set on fire starts coming your way. it hasn't suffocated from the lack of oxygen from the fire. its still alive till the fire destroys the brain. walks up to the building your in and bam! your safe haven is on fire!  just my though.

May I ask what you're doing in your home during an outbreak?

Also, zombies aren't necessarily slow.  The most likely cause of a transformation would be from a virus.  Think 28 Days Later rather than Night of the Living Dead.

As for the Less Lethal Army weapons, I don't know I've never seen anything like that.  The only crowd control devices I've seen are Irritant Substances like CS or OC.  BTW, CS gas is NOT a "mild" choking agent, or a choking agent at all for that matter.

Keep in mind that more than likely, the zombies would need basic things to survive, like water and air.  There are ways to [chemically] deny them that.

Zombies can not run. There is a lot of higher brain functions that is required to run like coordination. When the brain is inherently dead, there is a lack if that coordination needed to run. Also zombies do not require water or air. There is no blood flow because all the blood has coagulated, and the veins can not transport air to the muscles or brain.  The lack of air in their system would also allow then so walk around on the bottom of lakes, and oceans. Since there is no air in their system they are  no longer buoyant. Lastly for the initial outbreak I am staying in my home because I know my home. I know its weaknesses that can be strengthened. Plus I have 8 foot brick fence. If the outbreak is more widespread area, then I have my plans for that as well. I know it will never happen, but its fun to make back up plans.  :P

Muscle tissue can't function without water or oxygen.

Think about the science of this for a moment, hypothetically of course.  If it were to happen, doesn't it make more sense that the zombies aren't actually "dead" but rather in a different state physiologically, while maintaining enough normal bodily function to maintain sub-normal human activity like walking, running, digestion, and basic thoughts?

It does to me.

It's also one of the reasons I'm such a fan of 28 Days/Weeks Later.  They are not typical zombies, but rather infected with a virus that causes rage.

I think the Shaun of the Dead-type zombie is long gone in our culture (movies, books, etc).  Events such as those portrayed in Resident Evil (except for the corpses rising from the grave) and 28 Days Later are more likely to happen if there ever were to be a real-life zombie "event."

Oh shit, gonna need to learn how to make a blower pouch!!  :P

I may have to put together an armor kit to quickly add to one of my vehicles so I can get the heck outta dodge. Because when this thing goes down we need to get as far away from large populations of people as possible. One of the skyislands like Mt. Grahm or Mt. Lemon would do well.

Or hold up in the commercial district in Tempe and make roof bridges from Granger, ITT/Litton, Smith Enterprises and Armor works.
