I too feel that others at my age should wait. I only have a little bit to go. I have gotten involved earlier on that some, getting my first GBB at age 15. However, I feel that I could have put that money towards something else at the time. Firearms are not toys, but tools whether they sling lead or BB's. They CAN put an eye out, or in this case, get you shot if you handle them in the wrong way. I agree that misuse of airsoft could end in some form of regulation, but I don't think a complete ban would happen right off the bat. Airsoft would begin to be sold in firearms stores and regulated by the government, which would still suck.
However, I feel the same way about them as I do with firearms. The more you know, the less of a hazard you are, provided you're sane. [
] Children can handle firearms at any age they wish, so long as an adult is present. I can handle my real-steel Beretta 96 so long as a parent is home. I feel airsoft should be handled the same way. We've all been a teen before. Most of us feel that, if our parents tell us NOT to do something, we'll do it. Now, I've only done that once or twice, but never with anything serious. If you keeps guns a secret from kids, it will remain an interesting mystery that they'll want to get their hands on, regardless of the consequences. Education is the key, and airsoft is a safe alternative to the real thing. Parents are what is needed, however.
