I'm getting the KJW M700 as a Christmas present, and just want to know your guy's thoughts on the rifle.

Very high fps and is very accurate if you use the correct weight bb.  Otherwise your shots go pretty wild.

Is a tight bore barrel even necessary, or is it accurate enough as it is?

Not as much as on other rifles, in my experience with one. I've had mine for a little over a year, and it's fairly nice out of the box.

Is it true that you can turn the FPS down on it? Also, please excuse the stupid question... what's the minimum temperature I should be using green gas in?

If there is a way to tune down the FPS, it's not in the manual...
(See http://www.airsplat.com/airsoft-manuals.htm as a source of manuals for just about any gun.)

and AFAIK, there isn't a "minimum" temp for gas - just understand the colder the ambient environment, the slower the gas equalizes pressure. It's that way for any gas (Ye canna change the laws of Physics, Captain!), but all gases change physical states at different rates. CO2 changes phases faster than Propane, as an example.

Well, really there is because once you get towards freezing the gun has lost 99% of it's effectiveness.  I have seen 2 Tanaka's (AICS and Kar98) and 1 Co2 Sigma used in 25f temps (off propane and green) and that was pushing the limit.  They had dropped from high 500fps mark down to low 300's.  Plus consistency was long gone.  Still technically functional, but no longer useful really.

I would say minimum effective temp would be roughly 40f.
