MARPAT
« on: February 12, 2008, 07:46:42 PM »
I was looking in my dads Marine Corps Times newspaper, and i guess the Marines are not letting anyone wear the standard issue MARPAT. I think that this won't effect anyone because i dont think there is not many people who have the real thing

Mind clarifying?

You mean the Marines is restricting citizens from wearing 'real' MCCUUs?

I know the real issue digitals with the EGA aren't for sale to anyone other then Marine's, with a vaild ID, on post or through the Navy Exchange website.

I also know alot of Marines overseas loathed civilian contractors wearing digital's improperly, out of standard, or just being so grossly overweight that it made the Marine Corps look bad.

But with out further clarrification who knows whats the lastest.

Yeah the real thing, the one the Marines are wearing out in the field, and onebigbagostupid the two pairs you have, do they have the Eagle Globe And Anchor hidden  in the camo because that is how you tell if it is real MARPAT.

Really, I dont think it will stop anyone from buying the real thing or for that fact selling it.  IF not guess what I'll do, go buy Propper's Digital Woodland and Digital Deserts.  Its the same fabric (as its made by the same company) just w/out the EGA and in ACU cut instead of MCCUU cut which isnt at all a bad thing.  And for the price, unbeatable 75 bucks for a set of it!!!  Who woulda thunk it.

I also have some real issue MARPAT items that I guess fall under that category but I doubt a US Gov Official is going to come hunt me down for wearing it.  Maybe if I was claiming to be a Marine and in Iraq or something but sinec I'm not stupid enough to claim something thats false as true and since I dont plan on buying an airline ticket to Iraq I doubt it'll be any problem :)

The issue uniform is 50/50 NyCo.  The Propper brand ones are 65/35 poly-cotton.  Also the Propper ones are in the ACU cut.  There are MCCUU cut replicas but those are in a 60/40 cotton-poly fabric.  Those don't have the EGA anywhere on them AFAIK.

I know a few people who have the genuine article who are not in the armed forces. Acquired under spacial circumstance.

My point is.... There has always been some sort of restriction, surplus stores rarely had very much MARPAT is any.

Side by side against Laserracer's set there isnt much difference in coloration, and the change in fabric is a lot nicer than other replicas which is why I chose Propper's :)  They are really nice and can hardly be distinguished unless you have some overly anal people checking to make sure its the right cut and fabric :P  Works for me :)  Finding real stuff in Large Long pants and XL Long tops is very difficult for a reasonable price.  The closest to reasonable I've goten on Ebay is about 60 bucks for the bottoms and they didnt have the tops =

I've been issued 3 pairs of woodland Marpat, and two in desert.  By order of the Commandant we are not allowed to wear them in public, or out on leave, etc.  Only for work, they are not ACU (Army Civilian Uniform) as we like to say.  Also to tell they are real...you could always check the tag.

i have no problem with civvies wearing our camo, real or replica, just for airsoft and paintball, etc. but otherwise, no. rank is a different story...
now i have a question; since i am a marine, will anyone here care when i wear my cammies when we go out to PLAY AIRSOFT? after the game, i will promptly change back into civvies. i will also wear civvies to the game, to avoid any problems
is that ok with the fellow marines here? because my loadout depends on it...

We stole the Eagle from the Air Force, the Anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army. On the 7th day, while God rested, we overran his perimeter and stole the Globe, and we\'ve been running the show ever since.

You can wear what ever you want. I would say the culture here prefers that you do not wear anything you have not earn, but since it is your uniform and you earned the ranks and so on it is yours to wear.
