Beautiful! Around how much do those run? (If I decide to buy one when I'm 21)

If I'm not mistaken, you have to be 18 to purchase a rifle.

Very nice Jason. Now you need to invest a small fortune in some GI mags for that thing.

Yeah.  Everything has it's downside.  Used USGI M14 mags are about $50 each.

And don't give us "one mag is enough" either!  And get some more GI mags for your AR's too!  Some serious gun collector you are, only 2 mags for your AR, shame on you!  [:P]

That's why I specified "GI" mags not those plastic injection molded ones.  Now get busy and buy some!  [;)]

I took her to the range on Saturday (before the gun show) and it was a great shooting gun.  The mag didn't like the 20th round in it, so I only loaded 19, but it worked great except that when I fired it with the Polytech TG in it, I'd actually get a BURST for most trigger pulls!  I pulled out the TG and put in the SA TG and it fixed that problem quickly, not to mention the difference in the triggers is NIGHT and DAY - wow!  Now I see why so many clamor about and hoard the USGI parts!

I picked up a SA Gen 3 scope mount (only $25 used!) and a nice Synthetic M14 stock all done up in desert tiger stripe (only $61 shipped) and it's even sealed with 3 coats of clear Polyurethane for durability!  After I get it all installed, I'll post some pictures.

The first time it fired a burst was after I had fired 2 rounds in semi.  It actually scared me and the guy next to me was awestruck thinking I had an real M14 - lol (I explained it to him later).  Every time it fired in a burst (sporadically)  I saw all 3 impacts (I was shooting at the 200 yd targets with the iron sights - brave soul that I am), so I knew all the rounds had cleared the barrel (the barrel rise was surprising since I wasn't expecting it).  I wonder if I had held the trigger down if it would have fired off the whole mag (I wasn't brave enough to try that one).  I took it to a line officer and his suggestion was that the sear wasn't catching properly and that I should replace it as soon as possible.  He said that the headspacing could be off as well.  Since I could see all the impacts each time, he figured it was *safe*, so I changed the TG and it worked from then on as it should have - semi only.  No one around me seemed to think the bursts were unusual since it's a preban, and is actually labaled as an M14s (most don't notice the "s") so it looked like it could be a MG I suppose - either that, or they just thought I was REALLY quick with the trigger and didn't care about wasting ammo (lol).  I did get quite a few "lookers" and 2 people asked if they could shoot it.

Hang onto that trigger group and bring it with you sometime if we can ever get you to come and shoot with us.  Those M14's do climb on fullauto.  The one I got to shoot a few weeks back did.  I was doing burst with it and I could see the impacts with a good 3 to 4 foot seperation climbing up and right at 75 yards.

Here's my M14 stock (it's in desert marpat):

I need to get some scope rings for it before I can put it on, but otherwise, she's good to go.  I also have a USGI M14 bipod on the way (the real one), that I'll get on it when it arrives.  :)

FYI (John) my AR-15's:

The 20" upper is a 7.62x39 DPMS upper.  All are on RRA lowers - one I still need to build.
