I have always left my GBB mags about 1/4-1/2 full.

Drew-you can't really.

I myself have never had a problem with o rings being damaged from leaving a full charge of gas in the mags, or o rings drying up/freezing during the cold season when leaving the mags with no gas in them.

Leave Gas in Mags?
« Reply #4 on: September 14, 2003, 08:58:00 PM »
I first heard it was not a good idea to leave gas in mags, then I heard it a good idea to leave a LITTLE BIT in there.  It makes sense to me as leaving a small ammount will keep the o rings compressed against the gaps, thus keeping a seal.  I have left a TINY bit in my KJW M9 mags lately, after spraying a small ammount if sil spray into the gas ports.  I figured the sil would find its way to the holes and seal them nice.  When i say a small ammount, I mean a SMALL ammount (what I do is leave the can upright and press the mag onto the fill valve for a half second, just to create a small ammount of pressure inside).  It seems to work very well after a few months.  One mag is old with a new o-ring set, and the other is new.  Both hold a seal just fine.

IS THIS A GOOD IDEA OR NOT?  IS IT CAUSING DAMAGE?

as long as u put in a little and the tab on the back of the mag is pressurized somewhat, i belive that is good enough to keep it in good condition.
i espieccaly think its important since we are in az

Also just for the record I found it out too its good if you keep gas in your M203 shells. I just had some in one of them and forgot to put some in the other. After a few weeks the one that didnt have gas in it the seal was dry and didnt work.   Oh and this APC is pretty cool too......man i love emoticons.......

i heard from a friend that it was BAD to leave gas in the mag.  well.....now i know that its better to leave gas in so they don't dry up.  not too sure if they can dry up since i'm in hawaii 'n everything though.  still better to leave a little gas in it though right?

Umm...Its a thread thats about 1.5 years old and it was resurected about 2 months ago, so WHO CARES! You are one of the noobs who did it when you first got on here so don't turn around and pull the same crap on someone else. I leave a little gas in my P14 mags but the last time I did I was basically filling them with the air in the last bit of the can of green gas...2 days later nothing was in the mags..

Has anyone ever submerged their mags to check for leaks?
