Upgrading Echo 1's
« on: June 23, 2008, 07:26:03 PM »
I am very, VERY new to AEG's. I recently purchased an Echo 1 M4 Carbine. So far I am very pleased and have had a lot of fun with it. However, I was considering upgrading some of the internals. I have visited APD a couple times and one of the employees told me that Echo 1's are best straight out of the box and probably should not be upgraded. Than again, I also have heard that they are very upgradable. I was wondering if someone could clarify this for me and let me know if it is worth it to upgrade anything on this gun or if I should just leave it as it is. (sorry if this has been brought up before)

Well, I would save up for a CA gun of some sort, I have a lot of Echo1 guns and I can say.... They break.
And they do shoot better out of the box. Accuracy and FPS, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't upgrade
some stuff internally.
I would go for new gears, shim job, and a new battery/charger. And a thightbore barrel never hurt anyone.

Thanks, might try some of those. My second gun will most likely be a CA if I start having problems with my Echo.

I would suggest letting the guys at GearBox or APD do all the installing for you.
Granted the labor charges, but they aren't that bad.

I say save up for a classic army, but keep the echo 1 as a backup or secondary, a classic army will last longer and deal with upgrades better. just my $.02 [smilie=armata_pdt_01.gif]

What he could do, is make it a short barreled M4, and keep it as a large pistol... would be cool.
And THEN get a Classic Army. Or the other way around.

nice idea, ive seen a few short guns on this site, and echo 1s are TM copies so they can probably accept most m4 parts, he should make it a shortie with an M203, that could be cool. :P

Thanks for the advice. I will most likely hold off on all the upgrading until I can afford a Classic Army. Than again, that depends if I start having problems with my Echo 1 or not. If it works fine for a long time, than I will most likely just get a tightbore and maybe some gears.

I do like the large pistol idea however.

nice plan, simple leaves the least amount of things that can break, if a part breaks then put a better part in, like a mini upgrade.
if you can get the cash though, upgrade till you have the thing mounted on a CAW 6 barrel grenade launcher, just kidding but you get the point

Tokyo Maruis aren't bad either.  I have my P90 pulling a Guarder 110 and shooting at 400 and it hasn't looked back since the upgrade (Guarder 110 spring, Guarder tappet plate, Systema polycarb piston, and a Systema Area 1000 Piston head) about seven months and at least 50K rounds ago.

I've been shot with TM guns many times and they have a decent ROF out of the box

Yeah the motors are usually faster than CA and from what I understand have better torque too.

Dude, if you put a Systema Turbo Motor in that thing.... I can imagine the carnage...

I'm more afraid of the carnage inside the gearbox.
