What drew you to airsoft?
« on: July 16, 2008, 08:35:10 AM »
What drew you to begin playing airsoft? (everyone)

For me, it was to fill the desire to track someone with my rifle and shoot them. Get a lot of Serial killer erges and curiousity when i am out shooting (real guns).  lol, seriously it seems like a very apealing sport, and involves a lot of different things i enjoy, guns, outdoors, a challenge, healthy competition, did i mention shooting?

I used to be in it to play dressup in real gear, and pretend I am a hardcore elite team fighter.

I play now because it is a cheap way to train in a force on force environment. Also it is a good place to test gear theory that I use in my job. There are a lot of things that you can learn from battling moving targets that people dont get from shooting paper.

But mostly I play to hang out with my friends, and have fun together f***ing other people shit up.

It was a lot like Counter-Strike and I was a really overweight ladder Counter-Strike player at the time.

Now, I play to hang out with my friends.

I came for the food and stayed for the people.

I came along because paintball sucks donkeydick and the airsoft guns look real.  I like guns.

I got invited to work very closely with a real military VIP at my first big event and became friends with him and several more real military VIPs.

The people I play airball with are family and we just happen to play airsoft too ...

And we do drink.  Right Vince ?

These days I don't really shoot much at games but I still get a little.  The chess game of leading at 300 plus player events is a shitton of fun for me.

But I'd show up for a BBQ....

I too was once a Counter-Strike junkie (back in the 1.3 days, before they killed bunny hopping), and the thought of having a replica of my favorite CS weapons made me excited.  I actually started a CS wall in my room with crappy springers.  I started playing airsoft because to me it was a lot like paintball, only you don't look gay, and you don't get huge bruises all over your body.  Now airsoft is my job... so I'm glad I got started into it.  :D

Metal Gear Solid 1998 (Video Games too!) <------might have been before the game  :-k
Saw the same guns used in the game on a little wood 4 ft. table at an indoor swapmeet.
Bought a M9 spring, single shot, pistol from some guy named Ron.
Still works/fires, great too!

I came for the chicks and have been disappointed thusfar.

Actually Metal Gear Solid 2 and the Famas with a 203 was what originally drew me. Now I'm hooked like Rosie in a bakery.

Long story short, was looking for sound minded people who shared the same interests as me. I.e. a good group of people with the highlights of Camaraderie, having fun, HONOR, people who continually work on improvements and the challenge of 3 dimensional chess with an unknown number of pieces and abilities.

I liked to play paintball, but it was too expensive, everyone was a douche bag, and there was no realism and VERY little teamwork unless you were in someone's circle.

then i found out airsoft was more expensive....just cause of the endless amount of gear i was attracted to.
