Busta Cap... no they don't cost the military that much since they can buy all they want.  This is a civilain owned gun and since there are limited supplies of these they get expensive.

HavHav... yes people do spend that kind of money for them.  Ask Mike Dillon, he has at least one that I know of.

Paco... yes you need a Class 3 dealers licence for it, but since it's a Pre 86 dealer sample I believe you can keep it when you give up the license.

all those rifles look sweet and i hope your all happy.Being the owner of a AR and a AK...I choose .30 over .22 anyday. ARs have velocity...AKs devastate.Tactical-weapons in mesa has a AR47...my dream gun.The look and versatility of the AR...the brute force of the AK. Check it out at their website.I think its tactical-weapons.com[:)]

I heard for the military to buy/produce an M249 is somewhere between $2000-$4000. I could be way off!

Well, when they buy hammers for $600, and toilet seats for $1500, I gotta think they pay a premium for a SAW!!

SHIFTY, that upper at the bottom IS a 7.62x39 upper (which is the round the AK-47 uses).  To fire that round, I just remove an upper from any of the others.

I prefer the AR10 myself. .308 range with an AR feel. [}:)]

Nice rigs, though. I'd do anything for an AR, but my folks aren't hot on the idea of me having an AR in the house. So I'm off this weekend to a rifle shoot to see if I want a 6mm (.243), .270, .308, or .30-06 bolt gun. [:D] Then it's just three months and a matter of about $200. [8D]

Nope - no modification to any lower.  Any AR-15 lower can use a 7.62 upper.  You can even put 7.62x39 rounds in a normal AR-15 magazine.  The only parts that are different is the barrel and the bolt/carrier.

My bad. I was confused. I thought you were referring to the AR47. Sorry for the confusion. [:)]

It's a neat idea but $400 for the lower and to get your parts converted to work with it are a bit much.  But then again, AK mags are CHEAP, so the money you save on mags would make up the difference in cost of the lower receiver.

Paco, I never knew that the 7.62 x 39 round would load into a standard AR mag! This is the first time I heard this, and I have been around AR's for close to 20 years. Are there feeding issues? Or is there a certain way in which you'd load the mag to minimize a feeding issue?

I got to tell you, I sure love this group! Not only do we have fun airsofting, but we all impart our knowledge to others in the group. It is truly wonderful.

Yep, they fit.  You can only get about 10 rounds in a 30rd mag, but they fit.  It seems to feed okay, but I actually bought two 10rd Colt mags made specifically for the 7.62x39 round that are about 1/3 the size of the normal 30rd magazine, so I just use those now.
