CA M4A1 Locked up Gearbox?
« on: January 17, 2009, 08:49:22 PM »
Hey guys Quick queston I have a Classic Amry M4 a1 and well yesterday I went out shooting and the gearbox locked up I took it into Gearbox and Ron looked at it and basically we came up with the fact that I had a broken gear, So I left the rifle over night and had all new gears installed and a Sp120 spring as well. I went out and played today and the same thing, the Gearbox locks up and when you pull the trigger you can hear the power going through it but no cycle. Anybody got any ideas, I am gonna bring it by the swap meet tomorrow and see if Ron or somebody can look at it!

I think your gearbox isn't putting out enough torque for your 120, so try a bigger battery, use a 110 spring, get some torque up gears and motor, these should help but no promises.

GnarlyBlakers could be right, it happened with my mechbox when i used an M130 spring. If the very first trigger pull sounded like a "rrii" like gears turning but no cycling, and every trigger pull after that just sounds like a click, then i think it could be insufficient current/torque. But if even your first shot was just a click, then several things:  Motor was put in wrong (silly, but i do that alot since my red mark was rubbed off), or something fell in the gears (I had a .3 shim jammed in my gears once). But you never know till you open it up again. Ill be at the swapmeet as well around 3:00

I am running a 9.6 volt, and I had a 110 in it before when it happened the first time. I am just a little confused and kinda peeved cause I just got it back

I had the same problem before, for me I just had to simply regrease the gears up, and bearings and now it works great.

I figured out what was wrong the connector from the battery to the gun was coming loose and the gun didnt have the power to cycle. I am gonna work on it tomorrow and fix it
