Free NRA 1yr membership
« on: May 13, 2009, 02:05:49 AM »
I feel this is too important to have in the real firearm section.  Everyone needs to see this and sign up.  If it where not for the fact that I am already a lifer, I would have done it myself.

Yes, as much as I love the English language, so please use it properly.

That doesn't answer my question.

Please explain the benefits of NRA membership, be specific, and remember who you're talking to.

To me its important becuase you get the free membership so you get a free magazine, I sighned up like 5 months ago and just got my first issue...

If you really want to support your rights giving $25 a year to a multi million dollar lobbying group like the NRA isnt going to do it. If you want to support them then go do reserch and vote for people that support you ideas

That's the key.  So many people throw money at the NRA, hoping they will handle it when most of the power is in their hands as a voting citizen.

The NRA is a good thing, don't get me wrong.

and who else is there to kiss the ass of politicians and hold them accountable?  No one.  At lest no one as large and powerful as the NRA.

Now answer me this, what do you have against them?  And remember who your talking to.

Supporting the NRA is a very good way to support your rights.  You can elect anyone you want, but when it comes down to it money talks.  I would venture to guess a crap load of cash goes to giving politicians a good time.  Not bribing, but making sure your hookups are taken care of.  Every lobby group does it, its how the system works.

I have nothing agasinst hte NRA, and I support a lot of what they do, but just throwing money at them isnt going to keep our rights, and while they are a big lobbying group they are tiny in comparision to others. IE teachers union, nurses union, United trials assiocation, ect, ect.

I know they are influenial, but they are not the end all to our problems. You cant just throw money at something to fix it, which seems to be the way to go.

that article was written in 1999.

I think the NRA has something like 4million members, which is alot, and they are powerfull. But just giving them money isnt going to gaurintte our gun laws, what it comes down to is voting. I'm not going to vote one way just because the NRA tells me to.

I didn't notice the date.  I'm not really pro NRA.  I feel they're far too fair-weather.  "common sense" gun laws and all that.

yeah but name one other group even half as influential as the NRA when it comes to the 2nd.  Its the only thing we have.

You need to be able to think for yourself and not be a sheep following the heard.  If you believe in the Constitution there is only one way to vote, that is Libertarian.  Republicans and Democrats alike have muddled everything up.

Enough with all this bs though, the thread was only about a free 1yr membership, either talk about getting a free membership or make another thread.

GOA

and voting libertarian is noble - but throws away your vote and does nothing to remunerate the current bicameral system for whatever wrongs they've perpetrated upon you.
