« on: May 26, 2009, 10:19:24 PM »
How do I make my CA m4 shoot around 390 fps instead of it's current 420 I'm not sure how it's been upgraded because I bought it from someone who upgraded it

Have to talk to Gearbox for their prices.

Most likely you will need to put a 110 spring in and you will be good to go.

I suggest you pick up some shims and grease and reshim/regrease you gearbox.

Gearbox work/shim guide
http://www.858airsoft.com/upgrades/shim.html
http://pageproducer.arczip.com/daedalus03/workshop.html
http://www.airsoftretreat.com/forums/in ... ic=33907.0

Go to mechbox.com for a video on how to assemble the gearbox.  (ignore the shimming part, they do it wrong)

There's really no way to tell unless the spring is colored.  (some brands color their springs)  If you have another spring laying around and you know what kind it is, you could compare the tension.  That's all you can really do.

My 2 cents , but I dont screw with my gearbox unless I know what I am doing. Save the money and take it to GEarbox and have the pro's look at it trust me it will save money in the long run!

Actually it won't lol.  If you learn how to work on gearboxes, you don't have to pay people which saves you money lol.

As long as one is somewhat mechanical, it's really not that hard.  You just have to do some research.

Think the point was if you don't know how to open up the box you can create a lot of problems.

Well I took it to gearbox and got it back on Saturday and now it's shooting just how I like but now the battery wires getting really hot after like 5 shots then after the 5 shots it doesn't shoot and when the wires cool down it starts to go again then stops working. Any ideas what's wrong with it? I'm taking it to gearbox tomorrow
