Best full metal AEG with price below $300?
« on: June 21, 2009, 06:53:15 PM »
Ummm  I wanted to buy a full metal AEG for under $300 and i wasn't sure which gun was the best for lasting long and not needing any upgrading or fixing.  My friend said CA Full Metal Armalite M15A4 Carbine Airsoft Gun by Classic Army was a pretty good gun but he said everybody who gets them always ends up upgrading them.  I was thinking of using this gun for outside play(small field) and indoor CQB.  Please give your opinions as to which gun you think is the best for under $300 that doesn't need to be upgraded.

Just to clarify, you want to have one gun for both cqb AND outdoors?  This is not entirely possible unless you like having minimal range for outdoors seeing the FPS allowance for cqb is about 350 for most organizations.  CA's are the way to go if you're looking for a full metal imho, but i'm personally a fan of TM.  You will have to upgrade the spring on a CA but its all part of learning about the hobby right? good hunting.

or an ICS with a split gearbox =p.

Just get an extra upper.

Another option would to get a rifle with a quick spring swap GB, like Star does.

That one still shoots too high with .20g bb's for cqbaz (yes I am refering to the lower of the two gearboxes). I almost got my brother one.

I like these 2, same gun just diff stocks. They come with 2 different gearboxes for cqb and field use. Ive used a few of their mp5 series guns and love they way they feel and fire.

stick with what you know.
CA rifles are great, and most cost much less than $300; i was just considering the M15A2 rifle, and having looked it up, it is about $220.
and just because "everyone else" upgrades their rifles, doesnt mean you have to, or even should.
i never upgrade my CA or G&P rifles, and i do just fine.

We stole the Eagle from the Air Force, the Anchor from the Navy, and the rope from the Army. On the 7th day, while God rested, we overran his perimeter and stole the Globe, and we\'ve been running the show ever since.

"Stick with what you know" is great advice when it comes to airsoft. Classic Army and G&G are some damn good companies.

My problem is that I don't really follow that advice. I came to the conclusion that eventually all airsoft guns break or their performance takes a dive whether I paid $200 for them or if I paid $400. If you like the gun you bought and want to keep it in good shape, you're eventually going to have to spend a little extra money on replacement parts. I like the newer CYMA clones, as well as AGM and JG. They all offer metal AEGs for under $200, battery and charger included. I had my JG g36c since they first released it and it hasn't failed me yet.
