Airsoft for dry fire.
« on: June 24, 2009, 03:33:51 PM »
Guys,

This is my first post. I came here because I have an AZ CCW and carry a Glock 32 in an IWB holster. Glocks obviously being striker fired always require me to rack the slide to reset the trigger for dry fire practice.

I keep hearing that these new fangled airsoft pistols are amazingly accurate in the way of look, feel and some even have blowback / recoil operated slides.

Anyhow, is the KSC g19 a good pistol? Are it's dimensions accurate and will it fit into my existing holsters?

Chime in and let me know your thoughts.

Yes, yes, and if the holster will fit a real G19 it will also fit the KSC.

I dont know if you are getting one to practice dry firing or not but from my experience with my old KSC Glock 17 this will require to rack it again as well as the trigger mech is similar right down to the trigger safety. I could be wrong because it's been years since I've owned it but I think I'm right.

If you use one of these glocks from KSC or KWA or KJ Works, operation will be identical to your real glock. You will have to use the gas and hold down the slide release to keep firing because, just like your real one, it locks te slide when it's empty. You can shoot with bb's inside the house if you have a room you don't care about and no children to worry about but it's not recommended. Of course firing outside within city limits is illegal.

Couldn't you disable the slide catch, or remove the spring from the magazine?  I haven't tinkered much with any GBB Glock, but I know it's fairly easy on other models.

removing the follower and spring would definitely be easier to reverse (over removing the slide catch) once you're ready to use it with ammo.

Gearbox Airsoft on Southern and McKlintock. Between 100 and 200 depending on the pistol.

Yep, go to Gearbox. Their phone number is (480) 345-3575.  The price will mos likely be south of $160 for a good replica (not to say it can't be up to $200).

If you're only going to be using it to dry fire, you might as well pick up a propane adapter (usually about $20-$30).  That way, you can get gas at almost any store, and you save cash in the long run.

The triggers are nothing alike, and airsoft is a poor substitute for actual recoil impulse.

It would help for practice with calling shots but that's about it.

My intention was to practice my draw stroke from concealment and then be able to dry fire and have the trigger reset without having to manually rack my slide over and over again.

It'd work good for that.

Someone may correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that Glock has gone LEGAL against the air soft importers in the U.S.
any of the Glock gas guns are hard to find right now. I checked several online retailers and none of them have them in stock. Gearbox would definitely have them IF they were available, but as of Tuesday they did not have any. You would most likely have to go used to find one right now.
