I wouldnt reccomend JG AR's. My friend has an S system and trigger response is crap. It also sounds funny, kinda like the motor is struggling.
Your better off with G&G sportline ARs.

That's because the battery is an 8.4v and is a crappy one at that.

I put an Elite 9.6v in my friend's JG 416 and it was shooting about 20 rps lol.

No offence, but you might wanna research a few things. Everyone here is gonna tell you one thing or another, but it depends on how tall you are, how realistic you want it to be, how much you are willing to spend.

You should go to arniesairsoft, or airsoft forum and read the reviews they have up.

Goodluck

I would say a G&G combat machine, its a plastic series rifle with a pro line gearbox, i have one and its the best it weighs about 4 lbs not loaded. its also very strong plastic its nylon fiber not ABS ive seen videos of some dude hitting the for grips with a monkey wrench and nothing happening

The gearbox isn't the same, it has quite a few differences.

i have to agree with rorschach.my cuzins m4 s system is weird.the trig response does suck on his and does sound like the motor is struggling.
its not just cuz the battery though even with a different battery in it,it still sounded the same.and bbs will fall out if he tilts it and it will jam.

as for ak series i would definitely go for a cyma. my brother has one and it has great externals cept for the plastic stock and grips.i just dont think ak47/74s should have plastic wood furniture.but they shoot really hot!!his chronoed in at 460 w/.2s.

thats just my 2 cents haha

For your first gun you want a gun that's reliable, somewhat cheap, and easy to repair.  You do not want a gun that you have to take apart or upgrade right out of the box.  That means you don't want blowback or some goofy gearbox (IE an L85 or Sten).  Most clone guns these days shoot over most field limits which means you are going to have to have it worked on right away.  G&G Combat Machines and ICS Sportlines are both very nice guns, reasonably priced, and quite reliable out of the box.  They use extremely similar industrial plastics for the receivers which have no flex or bending.  They both have solid motors and gearboxes which will handle a decent amount of upgrades if you decide to do so.

CA or E1 would be my reccomendation. Everyone and their grandmother uses a M16/M4 variation, which makes them easily obtained and modified

Well guns (possibly excluding their AEPs) are subpar.  You can get a much better AEG for the price.

I suggest:
1. G&G Plastica
2. G&G CM
3. JG G36 (C, K, G36, doesn't matter)

CYMA Aks are also very very good.(any model past CM036 will be a great choice)  The stock performance is crazy, they are very accurate.
