The Miami cocaine boom and the chinese cheap airsoft guns

Cocaine used to be the high class drug, only the rich could afford it and it was somewhat of a status symbol. Then the columbians flooded the market with cheap cocaine and pretty soon everyone an their cousin could afford it. People selling it on the street, you get get it anywhere for very cheap.

Look at airsoft, Guns used to be more expensive, but not to the extent of only "rich" people could afford them, and it was much more exclusive than it is today, but with the influx of cheap AEGs and what not it has expanded very fast. Some say its a good thing that there are more people and maybe it is, but like the cocaine boom as soon as it became cheap and available to the masses the crowd grew and you get a lot of ver "unclassy" cocaine users.

That does not one-up anything, I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul.

PS - if anything you would mention the invention of crack cocaine, because cocaine has actually gone down in availability over time and costs more now than it did in the 80s.

Plus, airsoft and grack go hand-in-hand, seeing how they are both used in conjunction with each other.

Here’s my 2 cents now…
First off, airsoft has never been a cheaper alternative than paintball, EVER.
If you think it is, then you never really played either seriously.
Even paintball's gotten alot cheaper over the years, mostly due to cheap chinese markers.
Second of all, airsoft is relatively cheap compared to other big boy hobbies,
e.g. motorsports, watercraft, cycling and golf.
Yes the airsoft I play is with adults. You have to be an adult to purchase one.
Hell even when I was a kid I was into BMX and a good ride was triple a decent airsoft gun.
Yes I know some minors play but you know what I’m getting at.
Third, I laugh at the fact that I’ve heard “only the rich guys have CA’s or TM’s”.
If spending $200 more on my gun makes me “rich” than your concept of finances is way out of whack.
$200 is less than you’ll pay to go to a national op.
If $200 is keeping you from playing airsoft and not playing airsoft, then this is the
wrong hobby for you, clones or not.

Good point toast! But Paintball is still more $$$. lol  At lest here in AZ people can play airsoft for free vs paying to play for paintball.  And forget about getting a decent gun for UNDER $200! lol  Hell the price of good quality paint is $40 2k'ish rounds.

Most people here in AZ are cheap fucking bastards.  They bitch and whine for $5-$15 field fees, then cry when there pos gun breaks.  For a good game on someones owned land, you should expect to pay to play.  Land aint free and neither are the props.  Dont worry ladies, there will always be some pos for you to buy and cry about.

Very true on your last point, if $200 is to much to spend on a good gun then maybe you should take up synchronized swimming or synchronized dick sucking.

For you bitches crying about the price of guns:

Coming from a Tournament Paintball perspective, Airsoft is significantly less expensive in every aspect, from guns, to equipment, to ammunition.  A decent marker + airsystem +hopper to just fool around with in Rec Ball will cost about $200. Decent paint is 50 bucks per 2000.  For tournament play, expect to spend at least a grand on your gun, air system, and rig. Much more than that if you are going to take the sport seriously.

I picked up two CA guns from Gearbox for a fraction of what I spent on my Angel paintball rig. Even high grade ammo is ridiculously cheap in comparison.  15 bucks for 5 thousand .20 bio degradables?  Compared to paint, that's almost free.

So honestly I don't know what some of yall are talking about. From my point of view, airsoft has never been expensive. Ever.  It's always been a fraction of the expense of paintball and in the paint world, airballing has always been seen as a cheap alternative to paintball.

Airsoft has always been cheap.  If the sport is all of a sudden being inundated with jerks, the low cost of guns is not the reason.

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about do you?

On  side, love the ultrasabers, friend of mine has a pair, and me duel every once in a while. However, most people consider a decent Airsoft rifle to cost upwards of 300$, BEFORE upgrades. So how is that cheaper then 200? That doesn't even include gear. My man, lurk for a while find out what the ins and outs are, then comment, I don't know one paintfag who considers Airsoft a "cheaper" version of a similar gun game. Our guns are just better, and they are jealous :)
lol.. no, but really......

I don't know what I'm talking about?  Sounds like you don't know anything about the high end game in paintball.

A $200 paintball setup would be the equivalent in airsoft terms as a Walmart Crossman.  If you want to talk about GOOD gear, it's a whole other story.

So a good airsoft gun is $300 before upgrades, wow, really?  A whole $300?? Get outta here! Tournament level paintball guns are over a grand. I've never heard of anyone spending anywhere close to a grand on an airsoft battle rifle before upgrades.

My Angel paintball marker was $1200 before upgrades, and Angels are not even top of the line anymore.

And for $1200, you can't even shoot it, you still need a nitrogen system, regulator, drop forward, and motorized hopper. My Smart Parts nitro system was $250 alone and my motorized hopper was $100.  The accessories needed just to fire my Angel cost more than an airsoft rifle.

Now let's not forget the paint. $60 for a case of tournament grade paint. Paint comes 2,000 rounds per case and paintballers carry 200 rounds in the hopper and at least 400 rounds in pods and usually shoot all of that PER GAME. Do the math on that and you'd see how quickly just the cost of paint can eclipse all the expenses of airsoft.

Bottom line: Airsoft is significant'y cheaper to play than paintball and always has been. The cost of the ammunition alone is evidence enough much less the cost of guns +air. If airsoft is suddenly being over run by idiots, it isn't because someone saved 100 bucks on a gun, that's just a red herring.

Agreed about the influx of douche bags, I believe its how you play, not what you pay.
But wait? You got your entire setup for under 2000$??? Damn, I wish I could do that, If I wanted a a TH 240 to go with my VN kit, thats a straight 1500$ BEFORE upgrading the hell out of it, but man I really want a ARES M200! 1400$  :(
You know what... Ive decided fuckit, I want a Shoei....
You want a high end gun, you pay for it, were not talking a gun, and a padded black and blue fetish suit, were talking a full replica rifle, plus a 100% accurate kit load out,  THAT is the "high- end" of airsoft.
Were not talking about some 200$ sportline CA's here, though I do like those...

On another note, the "Springer" of PB guns is not some 200$ spyder, its that hilarious 40$ Blue- green C02 tube thing that sites next to the airguns at the walmart

Point is this, you are claiming airsoft is cheaper than your "high end" PB game. Well, you choose to play high end paintball, and you bought the gear as a result. Now don't try to compare it to some lower scale CA's, I could go play PB for 300$ too.If your going to tote your High end gear out, at least have the decency to compare to similar gear in airsoft.

Airsoft is based around  reenactment/training/Good time, more so then competition, its just a different thing.
This is my 0.02

On another random note, do you ever do anything with the 501st? My guess is yes but idk.

You really think comparing a limited edition sniper rifle like the Ares is comparable to an Angel paintball marker? One is something you'll likely not see too many of in your lifetime, the other is one of the most common paintball guns you'll see at any tournament. Hardly an apples to apples comparison.

I notice you didn't comment on the obscene price difference in ammunition between paintball and airsoft.  All equipment costs aside, the fact that paintballs cost 1000% (yes, one thousand percent) more than airsoft BB's will mean that the cost of playing paintball, will vastly eclipse the cost of playing airsoft over time.

And yeah, I do stuff with the Dune Sea Garrison from time to time.
