A Web 2.0 proposition for AA.

Personal Profiles
    Photo Albums
    Video Albums
    Facebook Connect
    Built-In Blogging
    Friend-Buddy System
    Activity Streams

Groups
    Custom Groups
    Discussions
    Photos
    Videos
    Bulletins

Events
    Venue Submission/Creation
    Event Registration
    Calendaring

Existing AA forums would stay intact.  This would merely add on to what already exists.  I can put up a prototype if the admins, mods and members are interested in this idea.

Let me ask you this, derekr44:

Do you have the resources and ability to bring this to reality?

That's what facebook is for. Make an AA group on their and call it a day.

Sort of.  What he's suggesting is more than that.

It's a good idea, but would be difficult to pull off in the scope he's suggesting.

And, it's following the assumption that most people want their airsoft acquaintances to intermingle with their friends.  I've met some great guys playing airsoft, but the great majority of airsofters aren't people I'd like to spend any time with off the field.  Such is the nature of most hobbies, though.

Well not necessarily, but I can see where this assumption is coming from.  With an AA Facebook group, you're integrating airsoft players with friends.  With our own, we'd be keeping the two separate.

Facebook integration is optional, and in this environment, I wouldn't recommend using it.

Yes I do.  I already have a barebones prototype up and am working on the PHPBB integration.  Everything else functions.

This is an answer to a question nobody is asking, and while the effort is appreciated, derekr44 - the fact that nobody has any idea who you are probably plays a lot into why this will never happen.

I've gone through the four pages of posts in the suggestions area and found the following threads that are addressed:
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=23935
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=23605
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=25359
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=18044
viewtopic.php?f=4&t=21938

I sent a link to my prototype to Christian and would be happy to send one to you if you want to poke around with it.  I've been working on it for a couple hours and it is coming together quite nicely.

That's understandable too.  If anyone feels like calling me at work/home and/or meeting up at Gearbox, I'm fine with it.  Ron and Matt were helpful in getting me going in airsoft and I've met up with a few of the Phantom guys.

Those of us who actually want to and have the resources to actively engage in social activities already do so.

And without the sour of the dim and feeble to spoil the party.
