They have Aervoe paints which are actually better.

In the military vehicle world, Aervoe is not too highly thought of by some.  Grapevine is that it fades faster under sun than other similar paints, although this probably does not manifest itself as readily in gun painting applications.

I have heard this too. I've also heard it has less abrasion resistance.

I don't think either are necessarily dealbreakers in this application, and I also think that their enhanced spectrum of colors, for some, outweighs these cons.

Beware - Aervoe's 'earth yellow' looks like playground paint. Ask Long Trang about that.

I would think putting some matte clear coat on there would help alleviate that without making the gun look too shiny.

be sure to clean your gun real good, to get all the silicone oil off.if your painting the fore grip, butt stock, plastic body or any thing plastic. take it off the gun and clean it with soap and hot water, then dry it. i recommend a hairdryer,i would assume it would be wise to do this with all metal parts, but ive never painted any metal on my guns.so maybe somebody else can fill you in on that.this link should help  http://www.airsoftretreat.com/reviews/s ... =72&cat=49

See I have a CA M4 but I was going to just paint the crane stock, the forward grip, and the removable hand guards and since those are ABS plastic or something along those lines, do I still clean them?

Why not paint the whole thing?

The Crane stock and handguards on a CA M4 are nylon, not ABS.

i don't really think it matters what the material is.there's gonna be silicone oil,oil from your hands, dust and other matter on the gun.you need to have a clean suffice to get the best possible bond.

m4hero - I've painted a lot of airsoft guns. I never clean them.

Everything wears off eventually.

I did what you want to do on my ca, just painted the foregrip and buttstock. I got some generic tan colored paint that we had in the garage and sprayed it on, ive put a new coat on a few times becuase parts of it have rubbed off, but i think it turned out fine, I didnt sand anything or put a primer down.

If it's a part that doesn't have a large smooth surface, you should rough it up slightly before painting it with some 400-600 grit sandpaper. it won't make it rough to the touch, but will allow significantly better adhesion on plastics. For metals... you're pretty much going to be re-coating it every couple months unless you like the wear and tear look.
