Thanks for all of the interest in the upcoming Left 4 Dead zombie adventure. Here is some additional info about the game.
Road ConditionsMTT Staff has cleared most of the sand from the wash so that most vehicles should be able to make it. It is still recommended that vehicles drive carefully as there are quite a few pot holes on the roads that have not been repaired.
Game InfoWhile L4D is primarily a zombie adventure, there will be some standard milsim battles at the event. The first mission takes place about a week before the infection and will feature a large battle between the Jihadist and Coalition Forces. There is not an ammo limit during the first mission. This mission is designed to give everyone a chance to test out their weapons, meet their team members, learn the field, and get some trigger time. The first mission will also determine what areas the different teams start from during the L4D missions.
Weapon SelectionPlayers are welcome to use any type of airsoft weapon for the event as long as it shoots under 375 FPS with .25 bb's. MTT will be marking all weapons so that they can be easily identified as passing the chrono.
When choosing what weapon you plan to use consider these factors -
1 Coalition and Jihadist teams (4 to 6 players each) start with 1 speed loader (provided by MTT) to split among their surviving team members.
2 Both teams will be trying to secure the objectives necessary to survival. Plan on having to fight enemy survivors as well as zombies. Remember that only four survivors will be able to continue onto the next mission. Each group will have several opportunities to try the missions.
3 Many of the objectives will be hidden inside of complex buildings that have very tight corners, mouse holes, and hallways. Long rifles may make close quarter fighting difficult.
4 Ammo will be vary scarce. Select a weapon that ammo can be loaded into quickly from "found" or "captured weapons". Players will be allowed to carry an empty speed loader to facilitate this.
Game ConsiderationsPlease understand that Left 4 Dead is a zombie scenario game. It gives participants a chance to experience a zombie apocalypse without any of the real world brain munching and throat biting. As such,
your experience will be based on your tactics, team, and luck. Many players will find that their missions end much sooner than others due to a difficiency of any of the three previously mentioned attributes.
MTT will do our best to provide a balance between the two teams competing for survival. For example, we will not put a team of experienced coalition forces who train on a regular basis at the Urban Assault Course against a group of friends who have never played airsoft. However, there are bound to be match ups where one team has better equipment (range and accuracy) and more importantly, has trained together at the UAC.
Understand that everyone won't be the hero (or even survive the first mission) at the end of the event. Most everyone at the event will end up as part of the undead hordes. Just think about all of the zombie games and movies for a moment. Every one of those is filled with thousands of zombies who were once people trying to survive the end of the world. Watch your back, take care of your team, and fight like he** to stay alive because a momentary lapse in security is all it takes to become a human happy meal.
Most importantly, come to the event with the goal of having fun. Afterall, if you find that you are ending up a zombie sooner than later, maybe this is nature's way of telling you to spend less time in front of the game console mowing down zombies and getting out into the real world to hone those freak bag killing skills.
