LP's guide for getting on a team: (c)2010
1. Get some gear (at least a gun, eyepro, and a dead rag)
2. Browse the Local Games sections on here and AA, go to a game.
3. Make sure you are eligible to play (age limits, eyepro and other safety requirements, bios, fps limits, etc)
4. Drive to the game on the day of the event, get there early and talk to people.
5. Don't be a meanie head. Some people think this isn't important, but it really is.
5a. Play fair.
5b. Call your hits, and don't whine about it when others don't.
5c. Have a good time, and don't be discouraged. It's easy to not do as well when you're alone, find someone else who isn't there with a lot of friends and stick by them. (This can be your first 'friend'/networked acquaintance)
6. Keep talking to people, make friends.
7. Those friends will either be interested in playing with you more, from which you can spawn a team after a while
7alternate. Those friends will already be on a team(s) and may eventually invite you to join them, especially if you ask them for help and if you can join the team.
Alternate for steps 1 through 3
1. Browse the Local Games section for an MTT or Fightertown game where rental guns will be available.
2. Call or PM etc the people in charge of the game and tell them you want to rent a gun. Checklist for a spotter:1. Decent to good to great camo for the AO you're going to.
2. AEG with full-auto capability and good range.
3. Ability to move or stay quietly and out of sight, as well as run and gun. (It's amazing how many people can't strafe and fire at the same time without breaking an ankle)
4. Don't be a meanie head
5. Quiet person (who plays like you would like to) who wants to show you the ropes. (These are a little harder to come by)
6. Ability to throw rocks to distract people (It works. Very well)
7. Time, and a lot of spirit (It's not the most fun, nor the easiest to do right, and by far one of the easiest to do wrong, especially if you're down south in the desert area instead of up here in the mountains)
General Airsoft Requirements:1. Eyepro.
2. Don't be a meanie head.
3. Be ready to learn.
4. Don't be a meanie head.
5. BRING WATER
6. Don't be a meanie head.
7. Be ready to learn
8. BRING WATER
9. Don't be a meanie head.
10. Dead rag
11. BRING WATER
Hope this helps!
I copy/pasted this from a post I left on TAC. It has been cleaned up as per the request of moderators. meanie head should have an equivalent term of endearment such as tool, tool-bag, tool-chest, toolbox, hardware store (cuz it's full of tools), feminine hygiene products, etc.
