Motion Tracker
« on: February 21, 2010, 11:28:31 AM »
Anyone plan on getting some of these?

http://www.airsoftgi.com/product_info.p ... ts_id=6334

I could see them being pretty useful in a night game when radio contact sometimes isnt enough. I dont think the need really warrants the price though, when you can get an Icom setup and become map savvy for alot less and solve the same problem. Im sure they will come out with cheaper ones as time goes on though.

I was planning to get this for my team but its just too much, and me and my team dont have the money to get it. So maybe in time but not now. I think it would be cool to have this, especially for night games or Milsim games.

I could see it as a team purchase but for myself way too pricey. I'm sure i could find a few things for that price (i.e. a new Gun, Gear etc.)

The Garmin Rino series can do just about the same thing, but they include a FRS/GRMS radio and GPS.

you can also just download google maps to your mobile and list your team as friends with location on. as long as you have gps on your phone, most new ones do, and a data plan your golden.

Isn't that assuming you get cell reception at the game spot? Most don't, but neat idea.

You should know in general where your team member are during games. There are times when groups get split due to re-gen areas and redeployment but most of the time you stay within contact all the time.

Way too pricy plus its just airsoft...so dumping money on that would be retarded.
PLUS You got radios and you most likey should be able  to see each other.

Waste of money!

there are 2 way radios that can monitor where other people on the channel are at the time, and incorporate GPS capability, but something to consider is OPSEC. By using this on the other teams channel (of dubious legality for in game rules) but you COULD use this to pinpoint enemy movement by their radios.

Of course I don't know what range of freqs the thing can pick up, be it just within a small range (2 way radios) or if it could branch higher to pick up military grade radios.

I'm new to airsoft, but I still think they are way over priced. You can get a radio for 1/5th the price and find each other that way. Now, if they dropped the price to 125-150 each and a lot of people started buying them, I would probably buy it. It is pretty bad ass.

Edit: My bad if this is necro posting. I always forget to check dates, just figured since it was on the first page it was recent.

deffinentally to pricey and not worth the money. As everyon has already said you should have a general idea as to where your team is. Plus you could just bust out the old map compas and radio and do it that way as long as you kno what your doin  :P
