Airsofting opportunities
« on: March 17, 2010, 02:19:35 PM »
Hey all,

First off, Im not here to complain or try to make adults play with me.  Just to put that out there.

Ive been doing lots of research on this forum about minors like me playing.  Many people seem to think its impossible for <18 to play.  But Ive heard of several teams and places that might let us play:
Fort Adobe Airsoft
Fighter Town Paintball
Marauders Airsoft
TAC
MTT
49th Commandos

Would any of these places/teams let me play?  And if they do, could I have a link or someway to contact to them?

Also, as I saw Exarach post, some fields might let minors play as insurgents.  Then, as they prove themselves, they might be able to play as another side.  But heck, Id be happy as an insurgent.  Much cheaper than buying BDUs  ;)

Comments, ideas, criticism?

Its not that they "Wont" let you play as been stated many times before its the fact that should you get "hurt" no one who is hosting the game wants the thing that we are all so happy to sue. the reality of the matter is that "most" parents don't understand the inheirent dangers of the game. from what I've seen most places will let you play granted that your parent or guardian is there. Once you make yourself a regular at a particular site the people playing there MAY let you play without a guardian there.

The other issues is maturity. I've seen a few minors at the field I've played with do some rather unsafe situations (i.e taking safety glasses off cause they fogged). it also comes down to listening the the commands on the field (i.e Blind mans, rules etc) some minors are incapable of listening to the safety rules. not saying that you are but i speak for a lot in saying we don't want the sport ruined because a few minors got hurt when mommy and daddy didn't understand the dangers.

Yea, I understand that.  But please, I dont want to get into an argument over it.  Ive seen enough on this forum already.  If only people would stop sueing and make big deals over things...but that sure isnt happening for a long time.

I'm personally against playing with most minors. Their are obviously going to exceptions to this rule.

Just to clear a few things up for you MTT and Marauders Airsoft are one in the same. MTT stands for Marauders Tactical Training. They operate primarily at their Urban Assault Course (UAC) but have had a few operations held at Fightertown Paintball. Here is a link to their site:

http://www.marauders.us/

Fighter Town allows minors to play as well. Rebel Union often times hosts games there so keep an eye on the RSVP section for them. Here is a link to Fightertown's website:

http://fightertownpaintballpark.com/

Both Fightertown and Marauders require that you have a weaver signed by your parents authorizing you to play. Both weavers can be downloaded from their websites listed above.

Also, Rebel Union often host free games almost every weekend that you may play at as long as YOUR parent is present at the game at all times and playing. If you have any questions PM fourwheeltrooperguy or B3ANZOR. They also have a team website found here:

http://www.rebelunionairsoft.com/

A close personal friend of mine has a son that plays airsoft. You may want to talk to him about going out to his sons practice. PM Thunter on this forum.

Hope this helps you out and thank you for not complaining about the rules! Finally a minor looking for information and not here just to complain!

Oh i wasn't trying to make an arguement over it just stating the obvious factors but what chip said is also wise. being under the age of 18 sucks but we have all been there once. my best advice is find a group that you would like to play with and bring out your guardian a few times and with time they will accept you and let you play

There is a place where i know they will let you play. but 99% of AA will not agree with it because of their location. its off of higley and guadlape but the place is in the middle of town and we have all heard horror stories of kids being killed by the police because of bb guns and airsoft guns

Oh, and a question on MTT and Fighter Town.  Do you pay and just join a game, or do you go as part of a team?

LOL. Doc is a bit touchy on minors in airsoft. Good use of the search button.

You pay to play there. You do not have to attend with a team at all. Usually players without a team will be assigned to one.

You can come and play in Yuma any time. We don't have regs on minors, we just ask that you conduct yourself professionally and call your hits. Age isn't an issue but maturity is. There is a 19 year old who acts like he is 10 at times, and maybe that's to get attention, but there is also a 15 year old who acts 30, when it comes to playing he's all business. It's up to you what you want to do. Again you are welcome here in Yuma, just give us a shout when you come so we can make sure we give you a warm welcom :D (and i'm not talking about lighting you up)
