What about a muzzle Reducer?

No, they are not a long term or even a weekend solution to the output of your gun. We're just going to have to change your spring out for a different one. Get the spring and ill change it my self. Tj has the torx i need to get into the gearbox.

Bah i don't like that idea but i guess i don't have a choice

it's honestly better to be a little under then to be that asshole that chronos too high at a game... or worse the asshole that knows it's shooting hot and plays anyways. if you dont want to change the spring you could **** it up and cut some off it to tune the fps. but your best bet is to do it right and change the spring. BTW at 500 fps,  hope you have disabled full auto.

yeah full is disabled, and knowing that it shoots that high I play with an MP5 instead

leave it half-compressed for a couple days. will reduce the power (not an exact science though).

Really, best way is to just change the spring. Adding padding has little-no effect on actual power. I have 1/4" of sorbothane that I added to my cylinder head... didn't change my fps at all.

No, leaving a spring compressed at all will not reduce the strength of any quality spring... if it did, your car's suspension would be shit after a few days.  Someone in the UK literally tested for a full year, the FPS and Joule output of several springs he left compressed in a custom jig and saw no difference from month to month.  The only time he saw a difference was immediately after a new spring was installed, it would settle, but after it had settled it was consistent for the remainder of that year.  My G&G M14 Veteran's stock spring was a consistent 383 w/ .25's for nearly 150,000 rounds and I never saw so much as a change in that FPS of more than +/-2 FPS.

Honestly, the best way to reduce FPS is to change the spring.

Also: Adding sorbo to my G&G M14 veteran dropped it from 383 w/ .25's to 405 w/ .20's.  509mm Barrel and full cylinder.  6mm worth of Sorbo.  Do the math, reduced volume in cylinder is going to yeild a drop in FPS unless your cylinder is already massively over volumed compared to the barrel (IE: Full cylinder in 363mm length barrel).

I'm just telling you my experience. I have a 509 and a full cylinder. While it makes sense that it SHOULD have decreased the fps, it didn't. lol.

That can easily be explained by one cylinder having a better airseal.

same cylinder.
and I may as well mention that it's the same cylinder head, only with sorbo added (and I didn't do like a real nice job sealing the sorbo against the cylinder or anything. I cut it with a pair of scissors and glued it to the head. lol.

By seal, I'm not referring to the physical parts, they are irrelevant in this case.  I'm purely referring to the actual seal caused by the o-ring and lubrication.

You are right, it should have, but as with everything in Airsoft, nothing is an exact science... I believe I've been quoted elsewhere as saying "Airsoft guns where designed to work, not work well." or something along those lines.  No two setups are the same.  I can assure you in my Veteran the airseal was flawless, I dont reassemble my gearbox without it being flawless, fresh lube every time.  Thats how I do my work.  But the loss in FPS was the sole responsibility of the Sorbo.

There are barrels that have holes half way through that lower fps.  I can't think of what there called right now but they have them at vanguard paintball and airsoft.  They have a tec there that can put them in, if u can't do it ur self.

great idea i really like it, However i do not wish someone or even myself drilling holes into a gun, just to me seems rather pointless, I needed it lowered for a game not permantly
