The Outskirts of Grozny 2 07.17.10
« on: June 17, 2010, 10:15:37 AM »
The Desert Hawks and AEX are proud to present:

THE OUTSKIRTS OF GROZNY 2

STORY
After the initial route at the Outskirts of Grozny was turned into a victory Russian peace keeping forces have settled in for the winter and are preparing for a counter attack as the ground thaws.  The UN has dispatched US troops to the area to 'assist' the Russian forces in their peace keeping mission and to ensure disruption to the civilian population is kept to a minimum.

While US and Russian forces are busy watching one another and keeping looting to a minimum the rebels are using the window to consolidate and prepare additional guerrilla attacks...

When:
Saturday, July 17th@0500

Chrono requirements please?

Rules linked to top post now.  For ease of finding here they are quoted:
Quote
2. All weapons are are required to be chronographed and observe a maximum fps limit.  For normal field games (CQB will differ) the limits are as follows:
2.1 All AEGs not covered further below must be at or under 376 fps with a .25g BB (420 w/ .20g).
2.2 All Sniper rifles* must be at or under 460 fps with a .36g BB (617 w/ .20g) and must observe a 75 foot MED (Minimum Engagement Distance) as well as have automatic firing abilities mechanically disabled.
2.3 All SAW Weapons** must be at or under 400 fps with a .25g BB (445 w/ .20g).
*Sniper rifles must be semi automatic or bolt action rifles with a stock and barrel length over 33 inches.  Violating the semi automatic fire or MED rules with a weapon in this range will result in aggressive disciplinary action.
**SAW Weapons are faithful recreations of belt or box fed firearms qualify as SAWs. This includes (but is not limited to) the M60, M249, MG42, RPD, Shrike, and similar models. NO MP5's, M-16s, or non SAW weapons with a drum magazine are recognized as SAWs and as such must follow the AEG rules.

Is there a specific reason SAW's have a much higher fps limit than other AEG's do?

Because of the gearbox. To deal with the constant feeding the guns power needs to be cranked up iin order to keep up with the BB feeding from the drum. And unlike normal AEGs they use a lot more battery, and normally this makes them stronger.

If you still believe that airsoft is for 18+, you haven't played in America.

I don't know about all that...  The real reason, for our uses anyhow, is that these are the same fps rules you see with national ops like Lion Claws.  It is our intention to allow the same guns people are 'tuning' for those ops to be allowed rather then make them use something else to get into our event.

That being said...  Feel free to check out the info on the events page as well as these photos from the previous event leading up to this one and get your RSVP form filled out.  Looking forward to seeing everyone in July.

We are now only a few weeks out from Grozny 2 and approaching the 30 participant mark.  If your interested in attending the event please be sure to use the RSVP form so we know how many to plan on for each team.  It is important we get an accurate head count for game balance purposes.

A few things to remind you about:
Bio BBs are required for this AO
Mid Cap Magazines are required for this event
Camping is allowed but we will have to follow any fire restrictions the USFS has in place at that time

If you have any questions feel free to post them up here, have a great week!

CT will be there.  Looking at 10+ dudes so far.

For those that haven't been out to this AO, its pretty cool.  Its a bit of a drive, but no further than driving up north to escape the summer heat.  Kileys pics from the last game --> http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y25/gr ... =slideshow
The last one was a lot of fun, looking forward to this one!

Kiley,

BGA will be bringing out a few guys, probably 8. Will it be alright if we used British kit again for this op?

If we can, how will we fall in terms of team affiliation?

Those are my photos from the game in January of 09, i dont think there will be snow this time, so those photos are probably what the AO would look like this time of year.

That craked lower was some guys Systema, and i think it got into the 70's as the day went on

Thanks for the support guys, those pictures are always a nice reminder of what a great AO the forest service lets us make us of.  Airsofter1, I have spots set aside for you.  You can have the team fill the roster out if they have time, if not I have 10 spots blocked out for generic CT use.

Brit Kit should be fine, the fluff bit of the story allows for it under the russian team and so far balance looks to be ok for it.  I'd ask that you and the rest of the team go ahead and sign up under the Russian tag when you get a moment.

Just the usual start of the week bump here...

We are 2 weeks out at this point and may be lucky enough to get some nice Monsoon weather out in the Santa Rita mountains that day.  If you thought snow was fun wait until you play in the mud!  Get those RSVPs in using the event page so that we can plan accordingly and see you there!

Age Limit?

4. To play in a TAC sponsored event all players must sign a waiver stating they understand the risks of airsoft and release TAC of all liability. Full TAC members are excluded from the above as they have a waiver on file with their membership application. TAC forum users, walk ons and guests must sign a waiver onsite of the event to be able to participate or observe. Spectators and players under the age 18 must have a parental signature on this waiver as well as their own, there will be no exceptions so please plan accordingly. Additionally, players under the age of 16 must have a guardian or mentor on the field. A parent is sufficient as a guardian and a mentor can be any 18+ fully papered TAC member who is willing to 'vouch' for the minor. Please remember that the parental consent form/liability waiver is still required in this case.
