Im surpised that there isnt a donations link some where on the site to help keep up with the cost of hosting. We all use the site so i dont see why we cant all chip in a little to keep this great site open. Im sure most wouldnt mind forking over a little cash to help this site out. I mean many put $1000s into this sport to play.. so why not spind 5, 10, 20 bucks more on keeping a site for it?

I dont know how much paco or who ever pays for this site pays to keep it open but it cant be all that cheap.

*if there is a donations link and i just havent found it sorry :P

I'd say go with the archive deal. I also would not be opposed to chipping in a few bucks from time to time.

Hmmmmm, I guess I missed the point here. But if AA needs some $$$ to get some more bandwidth, I'm in. Just let me know how much and I'll cut a check or send some cash. I think we all benefit from the resources this site offers. So it seems fitting we should all chip in a little.

I agree that if we must have a pic, save it to our own machine.  Otherwise, you could make it something like a "monthly game pics" area.  We will have one month to save them, and after that too bad.  There are alot of pics on the site that are either the same as another, or are not really useable, like the nature pics.  Just some suggestions.

Did this issue ever get resolved? As far as the added expense of the extra storage, I would be happy to pay a yearly fee in order to support this site, and I suspect I am not alone in this.
I am really looking forward to seeing the Nov. pictures, please let me know if there is anything I can do to help.
Have a good one,

I've run through all the photos and selected the ones that I feel aren't necessary to keep.  There are 913 total photos, of which I selected 519 to remove. These photos consist of about 55 MB of almost 100 MB total, so its a little over half the photos.

As I said before, they're mostly photos that don't contain people in them (ie, shots of the field), near duplicate photos, and ones with poor quality (blurry, too much light, etc) There are exceptions, of course.  I left in some various photos that could've been included in my removal critera, but I deemed them interesting enough to be left in.

Some photos could be resized as well, to save space. I'll make another run through the photos we keep to see which ones can be resized to save space.  Some images also need to be rotated.

I tried to be very objective in this, and if there was a particular person that only appeared in 1 or 2 photos, I kept that one in.

I have yet to check through the November and December photos, and I have only looked through the photos that are currently up.

I don't know if anyone has sent any January game photos in yet.

Yes indeed, good times... but seriously, you DON'T have a picture of THAT do you? Perhaps that would be a good one for Raith to delete?

Everyone who has offered to donate - I appreciate it (maybe I'll work in a "donation" link down the road when it's *really* needed).  I upgraded the bandwidth for the site, so we should have a little more breathing room now.  Matt's working on cleaning up some space with the pictures as well (thanks again Matt!).  I'll be working (over the next month) to make the entire site flow better.  As it is right now, it almost seems like it is two different parts - (1) the forums and (2) the content.  I will be phasing out the old "content" site layout and adding the pages to the heading on the forums, so everything is accessable from here.  Normally, this is something I could get done in a couple days, but my company is moving to Scottsdale at the end of the month, and I am in charge of the move (and all the projects associated with it), so the next couple weeks will be busy for me, as it's not easy to coordinate a move and incurring no downtime with phones, web access, email, network, etc... in the process.

Anyway, just wanted to let you guys know that I am working on improving things, making it all more efficient and streamlined.

AA membership is now at around 100 people (nice, but remember that we had a "grandfather period" when about 1/3 of the people joined and weren't required to pay a membership fee since they were involved in AA well before we decided to do that).  AA membership is a one-time (lifetime) fee of $20, for which you get access to the membership discounts (which should easily pay for itself with one order), an AirsoftArizona name tape, and a few other things.  I constantly try to get us better (and more) deals with retailers, including drawings and giveaways (like the custom MP5 we gave away last year).  Yearly membership fees/dues are something I am not willing to do.  I run this site out of my enjoyment of airsoft, and even though I do run it all at a loss, I enjoy doing it.  When I get some time, I will add the ability for people to donate to the organization.  Rest assured that all funds received in the form of AA membership fees, donations, (etc) are used only to pay for costs associated with running this web site.  Any "extra" funds will be put back into the organization in the form of drawings, or no-cost events hosted at pay-to-play locations like the Cajun House.

Anyway, just rambling now...
