This looks to be a fantastic game shaping up. Don't plan to miss it.
Please, sign me up as Medic for SSG Apocolypsio's 4th Squad (82nd Airbourne). Looks like no one's jumped at the slot, and I'd be happy to help keep his mates alive and in the fight.
To Apocolypsio: My Qualifications for Medic:
I have been playing airsoft for almost a year, in games at Fightertown, Four Peaks, VIP, Rebel Union, and CQBAZ when it was open. I helped Mike Simpson command the Zombie Team at MTT's recent Left 4 Dead game on Oct. 30th, and to their credits, they all did a bang-up job.
I also just came back from MTT's Training Challenge this last weekend, where we covered paired movement, close quarters combat, and other techniques. It was my first 2-day game, and my first time at the UAC.
Perfect Honesty: I have never served as Medic in an airsoft game, so this would be a new experience for me. However, I do think I'd serve well for the following reasons:
As a Medic, I would know that my job was not to score points by tagging enemy players. My job would be to
keep my squadmates alive, and
protect my squad leader: so that they can comlete their mission.
I've heard of games in the past where someone played Medic as a rifleman with a pouch full of regen rags, and when they got tagged their squadmates got screwed over. When I'm Medic, that's not my playstyle, and I know what my priorities are.
As the only source of regen for my Squad, my job is to stay
just behind the fight. My job is to be ready to run up to a squadmate, patch him up, and get him back in the fight. I pack light (4 - 7 midcaps on a belt rig and camelback) so that I can move fast, and I carry a short barreled weapon so that I can move and crawl unencumbered.
I'll do what I can to patch up my teammates, but I'm not going to run accross a wide-open lane of plastic highway to do it: I can't heal my squad if I'm dead. I'll find a way around, and have a squadmate drag a wounded player towards me, while I provide cover fire. Then he's patched, and ready to go.
When I'm not healing, I'm glued to my Squad Leader. He needs to know where I am at all times, to best decide who needs the medic most. My job is to also serve as his bodyguard, and watch for flankers. Before I leave to Medic someone, I'll always tell him where I'm going.
Lastly, and specific to Gold War, I'm familiarizing myself with the Game Rules, and paying special attention to the Medic and Regen system. They will be down solid by game day, and I'll also be attending this Practice Event on Nov. 21st (Sunday) at Fightertown.
Those are my qualifications. I hope you approve.
If you already have someone else in mind for the medic role... well honestly I'd
really like the chance to get some experience in this role, but if that's just not possible: then I'd still be honored to help 4th Squad as a Rifleman.
If I've won the slot, I'll also PM you in the next few days: I want to coordinate with your ideas and plans on employing a Squad Medic before Game Day.
Well, Book Over
In case none of you can tell, I'm long-winded.
Good Luck, and I hope to see you guys at the game. It's going to be a good one.
