1979 All Over Again

Anybody else paying close attention to what is going on in the ME right now?  Looks an aweful lot like 1979, and is a tad bit scarier.

So for you guys in the sandbox, keep your powder dry and be safe.  Things could get messy.

Tunisian feverpoxitis. Get enough people pissed at the government and things start to go crazy.

Problem with mob mentality is that they really don't have a plan besides tearing down the structure already in place. And the leaders don't know when to put the guns down. This happened across the world in the 60's and 70's and a lot of the dictators that led the revolutions are still in power.

I do love how Iran is praising the uprisings, but if it starts to happen there they will put it down without a moments hesitation.

But in all seriousness... the people have spoken, they want Mubarak OUT, NOW. I hope he doesn't put his ego before the lives of the citizens being killed in the protests/rallies/angry mob/riots, and steps down to help appease the civil unrest. Internet kill switch, martial law (with a military that isn't big enough to keep an entire country UNDER martial law), and refusal to obey the will of the people will always aggravate an already hostile situation.

Only time will tell.

Remember by the way the military is acting their isn't really any martial law they are just protecting the national sites and preserving the history I think some major people in the military want him out as well but are too afraid to act right now. Certain nations wouldn't appreciate a military take over

well that country being a "communist" country. a military take over would be looked down on by alot of countries. the United states included. but the information i heard is that he isn't running to allow for a "peaceful" transition of power. maybe he holds the lives of his people more than his power

Really truly doubt it... im no optimist... There are alot of people who need and want wars in that region so anything that happens is just in the playbook...
