Filling a Silencer

Although most sound comes from the motor/gearbox, and that adding foam inside a silencer does NOTHING to the sound...
I'd still like to fill my silencer with foam.  Any idea where I can get foam that I can just stuff in there?

Or would you guys recommend another material.

Sounds like a good foam for it. The stuff inside mine is about the same as you would find in a couch cushion.

And, it WILL do SOMETHING to the sound. Maybe not quieter, but it is a very different noise.

Where can I buy sleeping pad foam?
Bedmart?  Some furniture store?  I don't really want to go into a hospice home and take the pad that people have died on haha.

this is what i do with my "barrel extenshions. i learned this from a friend that was into remodeling, he said this is how the sound proof rooms. in some cases.

I took a pvc tube, about 1/4 inch. in diameter, and cut it to the same length as the inside of the tube, i then drilled a ton of holes into that 1/4inch pvc, i wrapped it in a single laywer of cotton. then i took the pvc and placed it in the can, then filled around it with Down feathers, out of an old jacket. make sure not to pack it in too tight. and whala. It makes a pretty decent deference makes the POP more of a thud.

but i guess foam might work pretty good.

You can get the foam by grabbing a pad from either the camping section (to keep more of the snappy sound), or a hypoallergenic bed-top from the bedding section. Both available at walmart.

The material that I use to fill my silencer is actually the kind of foam you find lining the interior of of gun case. You know, that wavy pattern / texture that looks like you could fit a bunch of eggs / spherical things into it? I cut out a bunch of rings from a slice of that foam and it works pretty well. Of course, I use a bolt action manually powered spring sniper rifle, so it's pretty easy to silence.

Yeah, I know the kind of material I could fill the silencer with.  The problem is where I can buy such material.  I don't want to cut stuff out of my gun case, or go to aforementioned hospice.  I'll head to Walmart.
