CoD Black Ops. Zombies. - Ascension (DLC Map 1)
« on: April 21, 2011, 02:06:44 AM »
Tank here again. Figured I'd try to help some of you guys out if you were still struggling with zombies or were just curious about it. The post will be a bit long, but it's broken into 3 sections so your not scrolling through the whole page. Enjoy.

This was annoying me trying to remember all of these steps so I decided to write it down for everyone and myself as well.
Special thanks for Noah "Swampass" Olmstead for giving me the scoop on this part of the map.

On the DLC map "Ascension" There are a few little fun things Treyarch put into the map. I'm gonna tell you what they are, how to do them, and where they are. If you knew these already, awesome. If not, your welcome.

First things first. I'll get the one that does nothing out of the way.

Makushka Dolls "People Poppers" -
In the game Treyarch made a multifrag secondary grenade called "Makushka Dolls" I call em People Poppers, sounds better and funnier, well in addition to them being frags, their also placed around the map that your character can interact with my holding X, I used to know their names but I don't feel like looking them up again so I'm using what ethnicity the character is.

The first is the german, which is downstairs on the bottom floor of the 3 story tower where the box first starts on the table in the corner next to the flashlight.
2nd, is the Japanese man, which is found on the shelf next to the flopper.
3rd, is the Russian, which is located on the shelf NEXT to Sleight of Hand (Speed Cola) on the top shelf.
Lastly, the American, is located next to the claymores in the swamp on a barrel.

Once again, those were just for fun, they don't do anything besides interact with the characters.

Next, we'll get to the song everyone seems to want to find on the maps.

Turning on the Zombie Song.

There are 3 teddy bears, holding a sickle on the map, simply hold X on the bear, and noise will sound letting you know you hit the bear, once all 3 are hit, your character will mention a song and the Zombie song will play.
First bear is in the starting zone, up top on the balcony near the right side window, (if your facing outward toward the spinning top machine from the stairs) the bear is sitting on a barrel. This is the easiest bear to find.

The second bear is at Sleight of Hand (Speed Cola). If you are facing the lander space from the hallway where speed cola is, hang a RIGHT as if your going to the right side window, turn around, and the bear is up TOP on the ledge.

The third I feel is the hardest because it took me awhile to find, (because I didn't youtube it...)
Its in the swamp behind the big gate to the right of the box. Lie prone facing the gate on the right hand side and you should see the bear sitting there outside the gate, once again hold X and the song should begin playing if you followed this step by step.

90 Second Death Machines.

Finally. This is the part of the map that takes the LONGEST but gives the biggest reward of 90 second Death Machines for ALL players.
NOTE: In order for this to work, you MUST have ALL 4 players. And these steps MUST BE COMPLETED IN ORDER.

I think this is the coolest because it makes a reference to the campaign of Vorkuta.
In the beginning of the map a scientist says "Help me friends, she is coming. The mechanism is not ready yet" Or some nonsense to that nature. IT HAD A PURPOSE.

-Step 1 "Secure the Keys"
This step requires one player to have the "Black Hole" secondary frag.
You must go to the map near the P.H.D Flopper and look out onto the horizon past the window if your down in the little ravine thing, there is a glowing white generator out there, throw the Black hole at the generator and the scientist should give some dialogue showing you did this correctly.

-Step 2 "Ascend from Darkness"
This step is easy, it just requires the doors to the swamp to be open. In the water under the staircase there should be a computer hold X on the computer and a pyramid should be illuminated and the scientist should give MORE dialogue. Congrats. Step 2 has been sucessfully completed.

-Step 3 "Rain Fire"
THIS is the step that requires all 4 players. Once step 1 and 2 have been completed Step 3 needs to be done during a "Space Monkey" round.
During this round 4 buttons will appear on the walls near 4 of the 5 perks. These perks are,
Flopper. Juggernog. Staminup, and Speed cola. These 4 buttons are all on the walls near the respective perks and need to be held until and audible click is heard and the dialogue progresses from the scientist.

-Step 4 "Skewer the Winged Beast"
This step requires you launch the rocket revealing the Pack-A-Punch machine. In order to LAUNCH the rocket you must launch the lander from the 3 stations, then launch the rocket where you turned on the power in the beginning. Once the rocket is launched, players with the Ray Gun, need to fire and destroy the rocket while it is taking off, if done correctly once again, the scientist will give his dialogue and you can progress to the next step.

-Step 5 "Unleash the Hoard"
This step is easy if you save a couple crawlers, which I recommend. Where you launched the rocket there should be a grate platform that ALL players must REMAIN on for 1 minute. There will be a clock on the wall that will begin ticking once ALL players are on it. When the time is up, a nuke goes off, which will end the round if you have crawlers, or save your asses if your doing it the hard way, regardless if your made it this far, congrats.

-Step 6 "Raise Hell"
This step is the most ANNOYING I would say and requires you use the landers to spell out " L U N A" in the sky.
Follow these steps and this will be cake.
Use the landers in this order to correctly spell LUNA
Swamp -> Base.
Base -> Swamp
Swamp -> Speed Cola
Speed Cola -> Swamp.
Afterward the scientist will tell you your ALMOST DONE, which you are if you know the 8 steps to Freedom.

-Step 7 "Wield a Fist of Iron"
This is the step everyone's been waiting for 90 second Deathmachines!
If you've been exploring the swamp step by step, you've noticed on a capsule that there are now 4 illuminated lights and a small light on the ground. ON THE LIGHT ON THE GROUND you must do the following steps, and have the following items : Black Hole, Makushka dolls (people poppers) A Pack-A-Punched : Zeus Cannon, Ray Gun, and Crossbow.
The first player must throw a black hole on the light, then another throws a Makushka doll on the light, followed by shooting the pack a punched weapons at the light. If you've done it correctly, the scientist will say that he's achieved enough power to escape and you've suceeded.

-Step 8 "Freedom"
The scientist thanks to your assistance will graciously give you all 90 second Death Machines (aka Wielding a Fist of Iron) and float off into the sky. Congrats, you've done all the steps correctly and hopefully won't get knocked down like Zack Ruddick because he was missing Juggernog.

- An Interesting Exploit. - Drop Exploit.
This isn't necessarily what Treyarch had in mind for the game, but I came across this one day, and not a Zombie game goes by that I don't do this.
You need a MINIMUM of 3 players to do this. In the starting room, up above the stairs theres a small corner between the wall and the stairs to put your head and body. The first player must lie down prone facing the stairs. The second player dives ontop of the first player and they will both be knocked down. The third player is there to revive the first two, and congrats. You have sucessfully increased the drop rate of all instant kills, max ammos, etc...

None the less, thanks for reading and I hope this helped you on Ascension or gave you some cool information to what Treyarch had in store.

Feel free to leave comments or feedback if your still confused or need Black Ops help.
