Hear this, and take it as good advice.  LET IT GO, YOU LOST IT, ITS SEIZED, ITS GONE, YOU WONT GET IT.  I spent a month trying to deal with customs, and I made no progress.  It took me a month to get the seizure number.  If you bought it from someone that guarantees deliver, get your money back, if not, let it go.

Thats what I thought.  I spent lots of time on the phone with Greg Doss, Agent in charge.  If they want to seize it, its gone.  Take my word for it, or try and get it, but I guarantee you wont.

It depends on the agent.  It depends on his/her mood that day.  It depends on the moon phase.  US Customs is an interesting animal.  If they don't care about seizing it, you CAN get it back with a lot of work.  If they don't want to help you and don't want to get it to you, you'll never see it.  Which retailer did you buy it from?  Some of them guarantee against seizure and will ship you a new one.

Well he gave me the number of some "import specialists" that deal with airsoft guns; I'll try to find out if they had any cases similar to mine and see what they did. How can I have the item returned to the Hong Kong seller if possible. The seller stopped replying to me because he obviously was happy with the $500 he got.
Thanks for yall's replies.

The seller most definitely won't pay me back becaue he's not a large dealer and can't swallow the losses. Also, it doesn't affect his reputation since he does small deals and this deal was an off-ebay trade.

It wasn't me that bought it, my brother did and now he's shipped off too the army and I'm trying to get it back for him. Currently I am attempting to get him to give me power of attorney so I can talk directly to the custom's officer. It doesn't look like I'm going to get his gun after reading all the other tragic stories of seizures.

In that case, the best thing you can do is spread the word, and make sure others don't get suckered.

With regard to purchasing overseas, that's the way most people buy.  I have bought 2 guns overseas, and everyone I know that has purchased overseas has had no problems.  Next time, try to buy from a reputable retailer like DEN Trinity, who has a guarantee against such Customs BS.  I understand you cannot always buy from such retailers, and in this case I doubt you would have, assuming it was a Gas M16.

I really hope you get your stuff back!  This is why I always check the seller.  I recently bought a full-trade reciever from Boom Arms, and that transaction was flawless as well.

In the end it WAS the sellers fault for neglecting to apply orange barrel markings, UNLESS you told him to do otherwise.

Good luck, mate!

Good news! The paralegal specialist I was speaking to said it was possible for me to return the item back to the seller and I have recontacted the seller and he has agreed to give me a full refund if I have the item returned to him. The only problem is that I need to get my brother (kind of difficult since he's in boot camp right now) to sign a power of attorney form granting me legal power over the gun and then I can speak to the contractor holding my gun and make arrangements to have it sent back. Currently, my parents are having trouble finding the legal power of attorney form; any ideas where to get it?

Argh!
The POA form requires notorization and it's impossible at this point. I talked to the paralegal specialist my case was assigned to and asked him what options I had and he just got frustrated and started yelling at me. There is no way my brother can call this guy from boot camp and there is no way I can get a POA form filled due to it being required to be notorized.
Any ideas? If not, thanks for all yalls' help.

Your brother needs to sign the POA? Why don't you just Fed-X it to him and he can take care of it and send it back to you? If that's not possible, then you appear to be SOL.
