Check for dirt or debre in the mag.  Disasemble the mag body from the plastic inner part and slide it out.  This is one reason you don't want to resue your BB's.  Broken BB's or dirt picked up with them will jam the feed mechanism.  Once you have it apart you should be able to clear the jam.

This is a brand new mag though firing brand new Excell bbs.  Just took it out of the plastic box.  I don't think it is because of dirt.  It might be operator error though.  How long do you need to crank on that wheel on the bottom before your fire?  I cranked for a little bit, until there were BBs feeding in the top of the mag, but then I started shooting and didn't crank again until it stopped feeding.  But that didn't help it...  Do I need to crank on it a whole lot?

Thanks,

Chris

It might just be the G36c mags.  I never had problems with mym4 mags or my aug mags, but my g36c hi cap had problems just like yours.

Sometimes styrofoam or other bits of packing material can fall into the feed door without you realizing it.  If you can't see any BB's coming to the top of the feed tube after you've cranked the wheel several times then it's probably got crap in there somewhere binding the mechanism.

Technically you can't "overwind" a high cap, but stop winding once you feel the tension or pressure increasing.  This won't solve your current problem, but it's fair advice.

If you can afford them, using standard mags will take care of most of your mag problems.

After some more experimentation this afternoon, it seems like the hi-cap mag just misfeeds every 10-20 rounds or so.  Taking it out and tapping it on something makes the BBs feed again, but that is seriously annoying.  Turning the cranks seems to have no effect on whether or not they misfeed.  For a little bit I thought that firing fully auto was the thing that was causing it, but it misfeeds at about the same rate even in semi-auto.

Well, thanks everyone.  I will order another normal mag, but doubt I will have it by this weekend... I'm sure it will make playing "interesting" to say the least :)

If you are using a mp5 high cap it may be misfiring because the mag is loose, try putting tape at the top to make it a tighter fit. Also if your hicap mag jams and will not wind again, it is because you overwinded it. To fix this you might disassembly the mag and release the little metal hook that is holding the gear of the hicap, this will release all the tension of the previous winds you did.

HiCap Mag Problems
« Reply #8 on: February 17, 2004, 01:18:07 PM »
Is it usual for a hi-cap magazine to jam up?  I've had no problems running bbs through my G36C normal mag, but after about 20 bbs through my hi cap mag, the thing jammed up and wouldn't work right.

I am thinking about ordering another normal G36C mag for this weekend, but I don't know I can get it in time...

Anyone know a local source?

Chris
