Gradual Gearbox Lock up-Version 3.
« on: June 06, 2011, 06:08:55 PM »
Hey guys,
My Echo 1 MK36c has been throwing a fit these last few days. I up-graded my piston, it was a G & G piston, and it was too tight of a fit so it would lock up my gearbox. I am back to my stock piston  but now every time I slip in  the motor and attempt to test the gearbox it fires for roughly 20 shots and then locks up. Or it'll fire 20 shots and I let off the trigger and it will not start again. Hte motor tries to move but it isn't able to do anything. Please help!

What battery are you using. i would suggest a 9.6v.

Also did you shim it well?

Could also be something as simple as motor height.

I had the same problem on one of these exact guns and i swapped the motor for a echo high torque and it solved the problem. I did this on a whim because i tried shimming it correctly and it still had the same problem. Then i tried a loose shim similar to how it would have come from the factory and no success either. There are many variables and if this is one of your first gearbox experiences or you haven't done that many i would suggest bringing it to an airsmith. If you bring just the lower reciever into a shop they probably will cut you a break on the labor because you saved them a good chunk of time.

Yes, I use an Intellect 1600maH 9.6 and the problem still continues to arise:( No I've been working on gearboxes for several years and never ran into this beore. It came stock with what Echo 1 calls their high torque but I'm not sure. The gearbox is shimmed perfectly but it continues to come up withthe same problem.
