Li-Po and blowback...
« on: July 16, 2011, 01:16:56 PM »
Just a little question...  Do you think that a li-po battery would be too much for an EBB gun?  Any answer is appreciated.  Thank you.

I use a 7.4v 20-30c 5000MaH LiPo on my EBB G&G MP5. Basically a brick-sized LiPo haha. Gun runs like a dream, never had any issues with it!

Thanks a lot!  I'm probably getting the ARES EBB G36c, and I wasn't sure about a lipo or not.

You can run a 7.4v lipo in any stock gun without causing problems. It is the 11.1v and higher that can break things if you don't know what you are doing. Heck, even a 10.8v nimh can give you grief if you have a crappy gun. There is a big misunderstanding with lipo batteries, that they will break your gun. It is the voltage and discharge capeability that determines the motor speed.

Yeah, I would never run a lipo in any JG or other clones.  I just figured it's an ARES, so it could handle the 11.1...  What do you think?

The ares might be able to handle a lipo with a stronger set of gears. I wouldn't recommend the gun when there are better g36s on the market with trades. just my opinion. There is an upside to the ares i had one the other day with such a good air seal that it shot 370 with sp90.

I've never used an AEG with blowback(electric or pneumatic), but if I did I don't think I would want to run a very high speed(20+ rps) because of the extra moving parts. An 11.1v battery may or may not break your gun right away, but all guns will break eventually. A higher rate of fire will just get you to that magic number faster. Once you jump to an 11.1v lipo it is kinda like voodoo magic for stock guns. Some guns will run 50k+ rounds without any issue, while others will break in less than 5k rounds.

I just really want the ARES G36c mainly for the quick change spring system.  What other better G36 models are there?  I have heard many conflicting stories about the KWA model...  Many say it is better, many say it's worse.

What is your reason for wanting the quick change spring system? Do you plan to play at Vangaurd and other outdoor outdoor fields with the same gun?

Yeah, pretty much.  I just want one well-rounded gun.  I play at Fuji field regularly as well as Vanguard.

That's what I figured, pretty valid reason for your choice. I've never used an Ares so I can't comment on their internal quality, but if you really want the increase in rof and trigger response of an 11.1v battery and can afford to fix/replace parts with stronger components if they happen to break, I'd say go for it. If you have never used lipo batteries before, just make sure you get a good lipo charger/balancer as well.

Yeah, I have used li-po batteries before, but I think I'm going to stick with a NiMH until I get comfortable with it.

kwa and tm for the better brands, echo is hit and miss and an alternative to the spring change is a crawler barrel and yes i also have g36 hop ups in my boneyard. Hdrox good choice of calling messing with lipos voodoo magic. sometimes they are your friend, other times you hope they would blow up just so that you can see the fire.

My LiPo is only a 7.4v however since it's rated at 20-30c discharge rate my ROF and trigger response are up there with many 11.1v LiPos, but without the ocassional issues with 11.1vs having TOO much power. I've seen them hooked up to guns which can't run full auto with the 11.1v since the motor can't keep up with such a high voltage battery. Now I imagine in an ARES gun the stock motor should be able to handle an 11.1v... But I'm not 100% on that. My suggestion is to stick with a higher discharge 7.4v or maybe even a 10.8v. Seem to have a little less 'voodoo magic' involved in the lower voltages but more than adequate performance in my experience.

Or, if you're dead set on using an 11.1v and are still worried about the blowback, just have it disabled then. Doesn't really serve a purpose on AEGs anyways lol, I don't even notice it when using my MP5 out on the field.

ARES pistons, gears, and motors are really weak.
