Oh great, another one of these pointless threads. Tell me friend, what is the point of having a 600 FPS sniper rifle? I play airsoft to have fun, not for the sake of hurting people.

Maybe that is be fun for him eh, if we all liked the same things this world would pretty god damn dull, roger? We use 550-600 FPS Aegs, semi only on the regular in UT. I personaly shoot one of these rifles and shoot and move just as much as someone with 350FPS. You just have to know your distances and fight accordingly. Also, I carry a pistol should I need to see the whites of their eyes when i kill them.

Dont hate just cause you dont have the fortitude to take a round from a high power rifle, or because you dont have the resources to have one yourself. As for "what if they get too close" do what we do, kick them out and dont allow them to play, this goes for any rule set for a game that is broken. If you cant trust someone not to break an engagement distance, how can you trust them to call a hit????
Dude stop being a little cocky dic#, you can brag about how much more fps you can use ok well if your such a man come stand in front my ar-15 barrel that will make you shut the fuc$ up and play the game right.

Ok.

So by this line of reasoning you wish to argue that AEGs can effectively negate the advantage of marksman type rifles since their FPS is too low, poor shooters, and slow RoF. By this reasoning alone it would be safe to assume creating a bigger balance between AEGs and Marksmen rifles is the goal of your argument. The scenario in question is also false based on the assumption airsofters are good shots. From personal experience, the average airsofter has little experience with either firearms or real world tactics. For instance, a smart airsoft marksman would know; how fast it takes his rounds to travel, distance, personal location to target, knowledge of combatant's area, pattern predication, wind, risk, shots before interception, shooting ability, teammate position, enemy positions. and probably a few other things. That rifle doesn't make you a marksman or sniper. Because by the time you get into range of a marksman's rifle in airsoft, you should either be dead or engaged to a point you will die.

So, by your estimates about the game, why not make AEGs 300fps and Marksmen rifles 500fps?

come down here ill show ya how snipers in az roll.
My sniper is well over 550 fps, No one bitches about it because i dont put a bbs in there face.

But honestly airsoft is just largly influenced by retardation, Of faster means farther, Sure ill put ur gun at 600 fps, but that Doesnt mean its going to out range a properly tech'd gun

reason why a marui at 300 fps out ranges a echo1 at 430 fps..

What he said. There is nothing wrong with a rifle shooting over 500 FPS, it just becomes a problem when the person wielding that rifle is a jerk-off and decides to shoot someone with it at unnecessarily close distances. When I run my bolt action, if I can hit them with my sidearm then they are too close to shoot with my rifle, simple as that. Get comfortable with your pistol or smg, etc at about 100 ft so you know where your limits are before you go carrying a hard hitting rifle. I too have carried a rifle shooting over 500 FPS and I never got any complaints, I did get compliments though on how they were surprised how I could hit them from such range.

If people are worried about being hurt then you are in the wrong sport/hobby. That's just my take on it. You are going to get shot, maybe sometimes a little closer than you would like, but suck it up and keep playing. I've had my share of spilled blood and sure I got a little pissed when it happened, but we are shooting each other with automatic bb guns, it's going to hurt from time to time. It reminds me of people that go sit by a pool and get pissed if someone splashes them.

/rant

It just seems that so many people are too up tight about this thing we call airsoft. Enjoy it for what it is.

Age old debate.  You can't really get expect a creative and educational discussion on the issue with strangers on the internet (especially the way this one was titled).

There should be a personality test for anyone that wants to be an airsoft sniper - if the test concludes they have unrealistic expectations in life, they should not be allowed to "sniper".
