Or you could spend the real money and buy an AEG "Sniper", all I use. SVD, SL8, SR25, The SR25 and the SVD both have elongated gearboxes, which mean they can use longer barrels without suffering in performance, the Both the SVD and the SR25 have come down in price lately, right to around $200
These guns are easy to upgrade, and being semi only, give great performance.
As an example:
My CA Dragunov is shooting 550fps currently, I have pushed it to a little over 600, but it didn't do me much good, and it was just hitting people too hard.
On a day with favorable winds, I can land shots up to 230+ft accurately, longest hit ever in a game was probably 260-275, (If I bought a better brand barrel, I could push this.)
And if your REALLY into teching, there are ways of messing with the hop to achieve 350-400ft shots on good days.
The best thing about it is that I routinely clean springer snipers off the map. Due to wind and pellet weight factors, it is very difficult to have any kind of certainty about where the pellet is going. You can aim to the best of your abilities, have everything going your way, then fire, and lose your shot to a random gust of wind.
If proper MED's are maintained, there is a good chance it will take 2-3 shots to nail your target, with a bolt action rifle, you must cock the gun every shot, meaning you lose the sight picture, time, and breathing control when you have to chamber another round.
This means you must re-locate, then re-acquire your target, and if your a good planner, he isn't ducked into cover by now, and you must start the process all over again.
Not gonna lie, by this time, any decent AEG BASR could probably have ripped off 5-6 shots. This usually cleans the other guys house.
Even if it takes a few seconds to locate where the shot came from.
Snipers that take shots at me and miss usually don't get a follow up shot.
Spring snipers are great beginner platforms, because they can be had for <$100, and can be upgraded as you go, they are fun to look at, and fun to shoot.
However, I would advise you to save up another $50, and buy an A&K SR25 or a nice M16 platform, and drop some upgrades into it.
Don't worry about hiding prone for 3 hours in a bush lining up your shots from perfect concealment, it really doesn't work like the movies in airsoft.
Moving, engaging, hitting and moving again with an AEG rifle is much more team friendly and useful.
Choose wisely.
