So I didn't feel like being creative when I registered and wound up with a pallid, lukewarm, flaccid handle through sheer laziness. Is it possible to change my name? I'm hoping I didn't see one of those "you can never ever change your name" messages when I registered.

No worries, I didn't take it that way. You can't run around with a forum name like The Squawkin' Chicken and not have a sense of humor ... especially about yourself!

That's because the SMF (the forum software) differentiates between username and display name.  You are changing your display name which is what non-admins/mods can see.  Admins and Mods however can still see your original username on your profile info.
