What are you talking about? The few brands of tri-shot shotguns out there in general; or GBB's in general?

Be more specific in your questions please so that others can help you more effectively.

Preference is based off of what you're going to be using the style for. Tri-shots are nice for CQB and even at some medium range. GBB vary widely and are excellent for all ranges. Preferably I like'em both for different scenarios, but I lean more towards the tri-shot due to the fact that it doesn't require a battery or compressed gas.

Generally speaking, they both have their pros and cons.

Are you talking about a sidearm? If so it's really personal preference and the budget you have. If you have $50 to spend then your stuck with a shotgun. If you have $150 for a gbb pistol, gas, and extra mags then go for the pistol. Like the guy above me said, you need to provide more information for a better response.

Unlimited budget? Get both, play with both as your secondary. Then use what you feel works the best with your play style.

Unlimited budget, hire a lackey to haul all that shootin' iron along the field with you.

Kinda like a Caddy, didn't Tiger Woods have one of those to carry his irons around :)

An unlimited budget is unrealistic. I don't fantasize about such things.

Realistically as a secondary I'll grab a KJW Glock over a tri-shot any day. However I do enjoy them airsoft tri-shots.

Metsman,

While tri-shot shotguns definitely have their place in airsoft I think your or anyone else's money for that matter would be better spent with a GBB as a secondary. I say this because a GBB has the ability for quick follow up shots, are easy to transition to, and can be carried easily on your person. To be completely honest with you, if funds were not an issue I would buy a secondary AEG over a GBB and keep it in your car unless you already have one. I say this because I want you to take a minute and think about how often you have used a GBB pistol as a backup to your primary if at all. Most people (at least in OH) do not use their pistol even once during the day and it ends up being useless weight slowing the player down. Now granted I'm sure our fields in Ohio are different than what is here in AZ but even within ohio we still have quite a bit of CQB and rifles can be used for contact inside the buildings. If this is not the case in AZ then forgive me and I'd say go out and buy a quality GBB like TM, KWA, etc.. But if the reason you or anyone else wants a GBB is for a backup in the field then that's fine, but I think your money will be much better spent on something you will use more frequently like a back up primary, or some quality gear, ESS Turbofans, etc.. I carried a Tokyo Marui M9 on a Serpa dropleg for about a year but ended up ditching it for the aforementioned reasons. Just food for thought.

I've gotta say, I'm personally really looking into a pistol soon because about every other time I've played I've had some sort of malfunction that brought my gun down in the middle of a match, leaving me with no weapon in the middle of a fight. So if you're like me, a backup gun is a good investment. If you're NOT an unlucky bastard, you can probably survive just fine with just the one gun, or a spare in the car.

I don't remember what brand it was but on redwolf they had a 8 shot gbb shotgun. If I find it I'll post the link.

That would be cool. I love my Marushin clone gas 5 shot m500. Had to replace the cocking handles with steel and it's awesome for cqb with a spread of about 18 inches

I found it, here's a video of it firing: マルゼン M870 ショットガン

So I found out initially the shotgun can only fire 1-5 rds at a time but on red wolf they sell extra shells for the shotgun that hold up to 10bb's at a time.

Yeah, it's a Maruzen M870.  They are fun but hard to find in functional condition these days.  Shells can also be a bit hard to come by.

Oh man, someday I WILL own one of those, for milsim purposes. I love tactical shotgun shooting, and it's not often you get to practice it like you can in airsoft.
