Your going to have a very hard time getting people to pay for a game when they don't know the host. Start off with free games for a while, then if people really like your games, they will be more likely to pay to play them. That, and I don't think it's wise to charge for a game when it is being hosted in a public place. What if you get there and other people are already using the area? You can't just kick them out, they have just as much right to be there as you do.
I have hosted games before, just not with my current team. Which is basically just a new team name from my previous team. Also there have been games held at SASCO that are pay to play. I'm only charging because of several props that we are making and would be nice to get some of the money back that we are putting into this game.

Also, Combat Challenge is planning another event around this time, nothing official yet, but just an FYI.
In the case that it happens to be on the same weekend we will postpone to another date.

Lionclaws route 66 in arizona was canceled. LC says there are no LC qualified areas in AZ for them to use. Not an issue w/ conflicting dates, now.

I refuse to play at Sasco when someone is charging for an event. Other than Toys for tots.

I can understand them wanting to charge, hosting CAN be expensive. So far all the props I've made for my team have cost us collectively over $600. I didn't use them all last game, because some are in various stages of being finished, but because a lot of people didn't know us, we didn't charge and probably wont charge for the next few games.

If you want people to come, at least let us know WHAT we are paying for? We don't want to feel that it'll be a slapped together game that the money is just going to buy a few cardboard box props and the rest is going towards buying your next aeg.

The conflicting date I was talking about earlier was Combat Challenge, at the National Guard Base in Florence, not LC.

Has that been posted anywhere official?  I don't see mention of any pending event on combatchallenge.org.  I don't imagine its a conflicting date unless they have an unpublished event that they plan to reveal to the public for general sign ups with less then 30 days sign up notice.

I agree with nukeduster. Money needs to go to repay the cost of the event. I won't attend a small event for profit.

I'll post pictures of the props we are making this weekend, we are in no way looking to make a profit.

Seems like a lot of people jumping to conclusions in this thread.... And $5 is not much to complain about.... Waiting for pics. I'll most likely register at gearbox over my spring break.

I'm registering for this and giving benefit of the doubt. I want to support local teams doing field games instead of using built up facilities, even if it costs a few dollars. My ghillie suits need to come out of retirement.
