I'd recommend playing with the gun first and find out what you like and don't like about it. The best thing to do is leave your gearbox alone and just stick putting a new tightbore barrel in and a decent bucking to increase range and accuracy. If you want a higher rate of fire then switch out the battery.

If you don't want to increase the FPS, there is no reason to put a stronger spring in it. If your not putting a stronger spring in it, there is no reason to put a high torque motor in it.

I'd disagree on that point.  A high torque motor with a lower powered spring gives you nearly instant trigger response, even on somewhat lower powered batteries.

That is a good point too.

If the guy has high torque motor money, he should have enough left over for a lipo or mosfet. :p

Well that or he could be bad at money management and puts 3/4 of his money into airsoft.

You can get good high torque motors for $50.  You aren't going to get a LiPo, charger, and decent MOSFET for close to that.

Yeah I wouldn't get them all at once, I would just buy just the mosfet or just the battery. If you're a serious airsofter you should've already gotten a good charger  ;)

Bob, have you played much yet? The gun in stock form should be good enough to see you through several games. I'd just get a NiMh battery and a decent charger for now.

I have one of those blue "smart chargers" sold everywhere, and it charges up my AK-style stick battery in about a half hour.

It doesn't charge it instantly. It just increases battery life and doesn't under or over charge the battery. It's one of the best investments you can get in airsoft.

Is the charger usually classified as a " smart charger "? Also, if my battery is charged, is it smart to leave in gun hooked up or do you all recommend I wait until I play before hooking it up?

Yes it is and don't leave your battery plugged in as it can drain the battery.

You mean plugged into charger, right? Or is leaving it plugged into gun bad also?

So that charger works for all airsoft batteries? And it tells you when battery is completely charged?

I just wouldn't leave it plugged in to either for too long and yes the charger has an indicator light that stays red when charging and switches to green when fully charged.
