Great day today, everyone. Too bad the Sheriff's deputy put a damper on the last game. For those that asked for the links of State Trust Land permits:

Here's where to get a permit: http://www.land.state.az.us/programs/natural/recreation_permit.htm - $15 for an individual, good on all State Trust Land in AZ and good for a year.

Here's the online viewer to show where State Trust Land is: http://sco.az.gov/website/parcels/viewer.htm That's what the deputy had pulled up on his laptop with his GPS. It's a real piece of crap compared to Google Maps but it's what they consider the "map of record" for determining where the land is.

For those challenged by crappy software, here's a screenshot:

It looks like the boundaries have adjusted a little bit since I last checked. The blue is State Trust Land. The white is private land. The shaded part is Peoria. I don't see any marked as county land, which is interesting because a chunk of the blue used to be county. Of course, last time I looked was several years ago, before they razed (read: totally destroyed) the northeast part of Hatfield.

For the map challenged, the yellow line that says Happy Valley Rd is the little concrete wall at the north end of the playing area. The parking area is along the yellow line labelled 107th, south of the white block. North is up, btw.

I'll dig up a satellite view later and slap the lines on top of it. This was just a real quick post so that people can start looking.

Thanks!

Unknown at this time.

Til then, I recommend picking up a permit... it's good for a whole year and grants permission to play on just about any state trust land.  Some other AOs are on state trust land, so it would be a good idea to have one.

Good research, thanks. That map shows more of the checkerboard layout that the deputy had on his screen, although when I poked around I saw that they're just different parcel numbers for State Trust Land pieces. Except, that is, for the two privately owned pieces, each of which as a different owner. (For those looking, our "town" area is one of the private land snippets.) Anyway, they parcel it up like that in preparation for auctioning it off, but then housing tanked and they held off on the auction. Too bad the NE portion was auctioned off before that happened....

I'm showing that red box parcel as BLM land on the Arizona State Land Parcel Viewer. I've had issues in the past on BLM land, back in my paintball days, so that might just open up a whole new can of worms. It covers the riverbed area, which would be interesting terrain, but still.

I'm just going to pick up a family permit since it's only $20 and I can use it for other things too. If they ever come back to check, I'll be happy to claim a couple of the younger folks as my step-kids. :-)

Nothing really happened. Its just a hassle/shakedown by a bored MCSO thug.
We'll get their damn permit, or not. (It aparently excludes airsoft.) We'll adjust to the non-regulated areas and play on as always.

Ok, i really didn't want to be the first person on this thread to talk about the can of worms, but im going to.  I can speak for a good chunk of players from sundays game. There are too many problems with Team Saguaro cheating and not doing what they ask of other people. This has nothing to do with being 15-20 ft. outside the tree line on a game. The fact that a game happened and all of tan team was not told the game started, by the time we are screaming what the Hell is going on, oh whats that? game over? so the terrorist nuke team, Consisting of mostly green team players, goes straight for the green teams spawn and we dont even get a "GAME ON!" this was still trivial to me compared to the last game of the day. Tan team is told to go off into the desert where we are supposed to spawn. We get the Game On, OUR WHOLE TEAM SPRINTS TO THE CITY TO FIND GREEN TEAM NEVER FUKING LEFT IT. Needless to say, any game you guys host from now on, we will not be attending, about 10-12 of us. Four times in one day your team cant follow the rules THAT YOU YOURSELVES MADE. I understand its not all of you, but its a large enough portion for us to tell people that you cant be trusted. Hatfield getting busted is kinda Karma i guess.
