War Movie Shooting Soon, Actors Needed
« on: May 03, 2012, 06:33:31 PM »
Hey guys, so today, im going to ask if you guys could please help me out. Me and my team are going to be shooting a war movie in the near future, and i need cast, scence i havent found anyone with enough dedication to do it. What i would preffer you to be (notice preffer, you dont have to exactly meet these quals)
13-20
Full black uniform
Good voice and acting skills
Good at faking gun recoil and things like that
The movie is named In the Blood of our Ancestors Our main characters, when fighting on the battlefeild, have reccurring flashbacks of WW2 which they themselves have not been in, but their parents were. They see battles like it was world war two, only its for several seconds only. The men loose teammates, friends, limbs and tears, but they cannot stop the urge to join the battles and keep fighting.
One again looking for people witht the quals listed above, all people needed! Will be suppling food and drink for all actors!
Roles available:
General: Not too much action, but its a major role. You brief the soldiers, come in at the end at a funeral, and some other scenes. Ages 16-20 preffered. All will be considered!
Malik Bakhaem: Russian militia leader. Pretty major role. Basicaly, you fight with your soldiers, but you uses a revolver and wears an eyepatch (tried to make him as sterotypical as possible) Talking to person about role now, so for now we will call it taken until it is cemented, then it certanly will.
Russian soldier: Read the qualifications at the top of this post. Need as many people as possible!
Hostage: Must be comfortable with burlap sack over head and a wife-beater stained with blood. Need 3.
Command: One spot, must have or be able to do a DEEP voice. Thats about it.
Staff
Photographers: Anyone with a high quality camera.mdoes not need to have SD card, but would be great. Also has to have skills with recording
Editors: Can make good to excellent gore effects. Easy to work with.

That movie was Terrible.. I refuse to sugur coat anything. Now let me tell you what was up. The acting was your main problem, The dialogue was in my opinion Very well written however the actors were so horrible they completely ruined it. Your sounds were medeocre at best, that could use some improvement, no that could use alot. The effects needed work as well. like when he went back to thinking about his wife and the flashback sequences the effects were just weird wanting to give me a headache. The sound was almost lost at parts and far to loud at others. Camera movement was good with not holding to one shot for too long however the angles on the shots were awkward and made the hight of the characters weirdly unobtainable. overall, one of the better things ive seen from an amature I guess but you need some new actors, BIG TIME. other than that congratulations on how well written it was now you need the cast and equipment to complement your work.
P.S. sorry to waste your time LIGACHEIF good luck on your production.
The very atmosphere of firearms anywhere and everywhere restrains evil interference, they deserve a place of honor with all that\'s good.

I appreciate your honest, straightforward feedback. Writing has always been my strongest point, both as far as film making and in general. I do have some questions of my own for you, however:

What are you comparing the film to? Big budget theater films, or other short/amateur films? Bear in mind, this was done for a college class, so there were lots of deadlines to meet and schedules to adhere to, including the length of the movie (5 minutes).

Also, have you ever worked on any films yourself? Be that in pre-production, production, or post production, or all three for that matter.

I don't mean these questions to be confrontational, I'm just curious, to gauge where exactly this feedback is coming from as a filmmaker. Feel free to PM me your response instead of continuing the conversation in LIGACHIEF's thread.

Ok cool, i do agree with Apacolypsio, so maybe we can improve it a lot. I think something like Act of Valor would be awesome and i would totally be willing to help any way i can. I am located in Mesa, so not too far. PM me when you guys are making another film.

You also forgot that it's a moral imperative that any action movie has at least one hot chick in a skin tight outfit.
