HobbyKing Battery Problems
« on: May 14, 2012, 05:42:45 PM »
Bought an 11.1v 25c 3300mah lipo from hobbyking. When I got it I tested the charge and it seemed fine. Had the guy at gearbox exchange the connector for a deans and got it home and its not charging. Is it possible that the connector change fried my battery?

Yes.. But they usually do a good job soldering, so I doubt that's the problem

Probably not.
If they shorted the pack to the point it is bad the pack would have gone up in smoke.. literally .

ya, if you get a reading on the actual output you will know where the problem is pretty quick, also check the ends of the leads for any loose plating inside connectors, that got me a few times when working on batteries.

i'm talking about the metal plating inside the plastic connectors.  make sure they didn't slide out etc. basically check for where there should be metal . those plugs are kinda weak sauce.

that's not exactly true, sometimes if you short them out they will just melt the sauder off the negative or positive leads.

iv seen it happen quite a few times. and just had to melt the sauder back into place.
but if they were fully charged they tend to just melt the hell out of the cell leads and all of that making the battery usless.
