Thanks. It is hard to stay motivated on such a long, drawn out project. The key for me was to do something on it every day, no matter how small, and next thing you know you're done.

I'd second the scale model kit suggestion. Squadron.com has the best prices. You want to look at 1/35 scale. If you can find one, get a Modelcalc. They're not made anymore, but look on eBay. Modelcalc is a calculator that scales to any "real world" measurement you want.
Me- I'd start with a flat-bed Toyota pickup for the base vehicle.

Okay, so just as an update on the M2 Build we are going to be building it from top to bottom first which means we are going to be building the turret first since in order for me and my colleagues to get a grade for the class we need to have something we would be able to turn in at the end of the semester. Therefore we will be building the actual chassis at a later time (Since full time students with part time jobs need lives too XDD) such as spring break or during next summer :)

don't forget the M240 coax. get a echo one m240 or the trigger happy model. also if ya gonna use nerf balls for ammo for the 25mm chain gun. may i suggest like a gravity fed hopup system with a bin that can hold 3 balls at a time that can fire 3 round Nerf ball BURST ^_^. think of those baseball launchers. same concept just lower speed and softer and safer ammo. now all we gotta work is is the Tow missile system. hmm maybe a compressed Air unit or Propane, with Two Nerf rockets stuck in PCv tubes that are fire by remote or manually. or the good old Pull string method lol.

I would pay to see this accomplished!
