War
« on: September 18, 2012, 05:28:25 PM »
So, I've been trying to figure out what my view is on the recent wars waged by America.  Whenever people talk about it, I always hear either, "It's terrible, we're killing innocent civilians!" or, "It's great, we're creating freedom!”; rarely any substantial information.  When trying to research it online, nearly every article I find is anti-war.  So while I can find an abundance of anti-war information, I haven’t really been able to find much on why our wars have been good.
If someone can explain why our recent wars have been good/justified, or point me to an article or website where I can find the information, it would be greatly appreciated.

The Afghanistan conflict was retribution for 9/11, and due to political reasons, we are not able to pull out for another two years.

As for the other conflicts unfolding currently, involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan has interrupted Islamic extremist operations, creating much hatred towards Americans.  Recent polls conducted in the region reveal that nearly 80% of people in the countries involved in riots and embassy attacks favor Sharia Law over a democracy.  It's basically like the Cold War communist scare, but with radical Muslims instead.  It's a pawer vacuum that has been created through funding of failed governments and rebellions, leaving extremists the ability to step in and take power.

At least that's what I made sense of...  Not that it's necessarily 100% correct.  But you get the jist of it.
