Thanks KillerDrgn, I like to know what other peoples opinions are. Do you feel that 450 FPS with .2's is a good limit for AEG's? and how about 550 FPS with .2's as a limit for sniper rifles?
I also have call out distances. Any airsoft gun running from 300 to 400 FPS will have a 20 foot "BANG" call out distance. Any guns running over 400 FPS will have a 25 foot "BANG" call out distance.
If anyone has any other thoughts or ideas please feel free to post.
And Thanks :)
If the distance is over 15 feet, and especially if both players have clear view of each other, it would quickly turn into a "I saw whatshisface before he saw me, I'm not out" scenario, leading to the payers shooting each other anyways.  Surrenders are meant to be a stealthy way to call players out.  I would cap the fps at 425 maximum for automatic weapons, and around 550 for snipers.

Also, since sniper rifles have such a high fps typically, it would be wise to enforce a MED as to not cause a safety hazard.

Killer Dragn is right on with usual FPS limits and engagement rules.
No ten year old should be in airsoft- my opnion.

All the more reason to lower the fps limits.  As much as small children annoy me sometimes, I feel bad for shooting them :P

Speaking of which, a minimum age should also be enforced.  Say, 16 at the very youngest.

Age restrictions don't need to be enforced on pick up games. Todays young players are tomorrows veterans. When we host games all ages are welcome as long as they have the proper safety equipment. Don't like there rules then don't play at there games. Its that simple!

So I have been hosting monthly airsoft games for almost three years now and I am still learning lots about events. Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and opinions. I will continue to discuss the limits with my team members who I have not yet talked to so that I can get them up here ASAP.
I hope you all have a great day and I send my best wishes to you and yours.

Shock and awe. There are plenty of airsoft vets and teams who host all the time to help you run a game. Just ask, thats what the forums are for.

2.2 "BANG, BANG!" 2.2.1 If a player enters a close range situation where firing his weapon could result in unnecessary harm to an opposing player, AND he/she has the target "dead to rights," he/she must use the "Bang, Bang!" rule. 2.2.2 "Bang, Bang!" is a safety call ONLY. It is NOT a way of killing someone tactically. As such it is not optional you should honor the call and immediately pull out your red rag. If said player was particularly sneaky, it is appropriate to honor the kill by "quietly dying" to not give away that player's position. 2.2.3 Do not use "Bang Bang!" in a situation where it could be disputed by a fellow player. If you do not have the target "100% no chance of survival/dead", closer than 15 feet from behind the opposed player, do not say "Bang, Bang!". DO NOT:

EX 1: You see multiple players from a distance, run though the group yelling "Bang Bang!" at everyone. EX 2: You are hidden behind a bush, and opposed player approaches from the front. You call out "Bang Bang!" before he/she reacts. EX 3: You come around a bush and immediately face to face with another player less than 10 feet from you. DO use TRUCE (2.3) instead.

 3 - CHRONO AND VELOCITY/ENERGY LIMITS

3.1 Velocity reducers are NOT allowed at any OPLCMSS Event.. 3.1.1 Players should report to the chrono station with an empty mag for each weapon. The Chrono staff member will insert the testing BBs in the empty mag. All weapons will be chronographed using the sponsor provided .25 gram Biodegradable BBs. 3.1.2.REGULAR CHRONO

OK < 366 fps NO GO > 367 fps See 3.1.4

NOTE: Individual events reserve the right to institute a CAUTION range (Subject to frequent checks) generally between 366-376 fps THIS SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A GOAL FOR FPS. <366 IS THE LIMIT

3.1.3 SNIPER CHRONO Converted levels to use .25 6mm BBs based upon accepted standard Sniper Chrono levels of 550 FPS W/ .20 BB.(2.976 J.) and rounded UP. All 6mm sniper weapons will be chronographed using the provided Sponsor chrono BB.

OK < 510fps (3.005 J) NO GO > 511 fps see 3.1.4

NOTE: Individual events reserve the right to institute a CAUTION range (Subject to frequent checks) generally between 510-525 fps THIS SHOULD NOT BE CONSIDERED A GOAL FOR FPS. <510 IS THE LIMIT

*8MM Levels as follows –Using .34g (8mm) BBs: OK < 448 fps, NO GO > 450 fps see 3.1.4 Using .36g (8mm) BBs: OK< 436 fps, NO GO > 438 fps see 3.1.4

3.1.4 If a gun fires in the NO GO range, the Chrono Marshall will immediately check the weapon. If he duplicates the NO GO FPS, the Airsoft weapon will immediately be red tagged. 3.1.5 A red-tagged gun has three options:

a. The player leaves the AO with the Airsoft weapon. b. The player tunes the weapon to at or below the posted spec and re-chronos the gun.

As the owner of an airsoft business and an airsoft team that is FAMILY / KID FRIENDLY for all ages I very firmly believe in the safe and responsible use of airsoft guns. I also firmly believe in the airsoft “honor code”.

Our 10 year old team member has played with more honor and maturity then 90% of the 16 year olds that have played with us over the last two years.

When I originally said we have no FPS limits I expected everyone to be prepared to play with honor and maturity, simply meaning you are not going to turn your gun as high as it can shoot BECAUSE you can respect the safety of another player, regardless of their age.

If you are NOT mature enough to know that you DON’T need to make your gun as fast as possible then don’t bother attending my events. FPS limits have been set. We are all (even our 10 year old) very mature players who want to have a good time withOUT anyone’s ego OR attitude getting in the way.

I am not trying to be or sound rude; however I think it is rather obvious for me to put my foot down and verify that everyone understands we are only interested in playing with other players who can be mature about the game, regardless of their actual age.
In conclusion we are a small group of 10 to 30 players who want to have a fun time. So if you have maturity issues, ego issues, attitude issues, or you just want to flat out be a jerk, don’t bother coming to play with us.

Thank you for your understanding.

Updated Field Rules with FPS limits can be seen at:

I didn't see anyone being a jerk or on an ego trip.
We all pointed out the you have no rules and needed to get some set up.

On a side note what's in the water that makes it worth  5$ ?

Actually a couple of you pointed out that because there weren't any FPS limits you could shoot your guns really fast, therefor causing us to question why someone would want to if you're playing in close quarters (as in, less then 50 feet).  We have never had this kind of an issue before and when first reading about events on here I, personally, thought FPS & mag limits were uncalled for.  Now I understand why they are there.

We do have rules and as stated by Shock & Awe we were happy to share those, though we admitted that this has, and will continue to be, a learning process.  The information you gave us has been really helpful.

The $5 is for more than just water, sorry my original post wasn't clearer.  It's for a day of lost business, considering the cost's of other events I think this is more than reasonable.
I only cry when I break a nail because I grow my own.

Ok,this has gotten way out of hand. I know what I said about my polar star but it doesn't mean I am gonna do it. I am here to have fun not hurt people. I met with who I believe is your brother at his store yesterday. We had a nice talk and I laid it all out on the table about it. "Side note" when you post games in the future just also put up no thread crapping,if you aren't showing up don't post. By the way I will be there for sure plus 1.
