ACA in AZ
« on: December 12, 2012, 06:44:36 PM »
So apparently the "ACA" (association of competitive airsoft) is going to start up in AZ, according to their facebook page (namely at vanguard). For those who don't know, ACA is run by those rainbow ops people. They run a "competition" thingy of teams & classes and such.

I personally don't mind too much. I don't however understand the competitive aspect of airsoft, but who knows, it might develop in some unique way. What does everyone else think about this ACA thing?

Well they and vanguard should go hand in hand....

Aside from that why choose such a location with no "experienced" players?

breeding elitism in the community.

Interesting thought. But I don't know that I'd be worried about that if they're operating out of VIP. If any kids get a superiority complex from it I won't complain if they are to preoccupied with ACA and leave our milsim alone. haha

I like how some young kid commented on the facebook post that "There's like maybe 2 actual "decent' teams in AZ LOL" I wonder if he's heard of Desert Hawks or DCops or some of the other strong teams on this forum.....

I've never heard of ACA or rainbow ops. How legit are they? What is AAs general opinion on them?

What I read before was that rainbow ops are full of themselves. Luckily where I am going the sport is relatively new so everyone knows each other and this kind of thing won't happen.

Sorry kind of off topic

From what I can tell most of the "experienced" players hate the kids that cheat all the time. The team uniform requirements will eliminate half of those kids. Get a vigilant, strict referee to ban the remaining cheaters that get together.

I see an opportunity to play at Vanguard with honorable players.

If it were more objective based rather than speedball-type gameplay, I would be much more interested.  That's why I chose airsoft over paintball initially.

Who knows, they might get big out here & open up a field specifically for them somewhere, that'd be neat. I dunno though, we'll see how this all turns out.

Great, what could go wrong in making airsoft more competitive.

Interesting, as a past IPSC, steel and bowling pin shooter, Hmmm didn't know (I might have been a snooty nose in the air handgun specialist) never considered myself that however I have known and competed with those types... It could be interesting to do Airsoft IPSC, pins and steel, could be fun, if just kept to just that and not let it get to ego and crazy mad stage... It would be a bit more reasonable as opposed to six to seven thousand dollar purpose built 1911 style double stackers, 19 in the mag and one in the tube... That could be a lot of fun, can't run combat stages any more due to disability, however could do range master, steel and pins... Still have some competition rigs, and shot timers plus other asstd. stuff...

Oh look. A rainbow.

No thanks.  They lost all legitimacy when they dirtied up the AA boards earlier this year.

Forget these guys. Rainbow (from what I've read) are a bunch of tools. Rather just go out and have fun than have it be some "competition".

ACA was actually started by David, a former member of Rainbow who left when he found out that he had been lied to for many years by Todd Ferguson ({fake}"Ranger"). Rainbow team is not involved in the ACA, they've tried hard to disassociate from the "Ranger" fiasco.

ACA is more of a speed ball type of airsoft. It's simply a totally different type of play from milsim. Some people like it. I'd say it ACA is like sprinting hurdles, compared to running a marathon. It's fast, looks good on film but requires less discipline. It's for some people if that's what they want.

Good to know.

That sounds like CQB. It sounds like fun, but it's this phony "league" aspect that bugs me. It's gonna end up being incredibly structured and ridged, eliminating control from the players.

There would be set game types and more incentive to cheat or accuse people of cheating. We couldn't come up with games ( like capture the hostage, if you played that at Tempe that one night). Speedball works for paintball cause its hard to argue when you have a big mess of paint on you from a hit. Arguments arise from not calling hits/accusations of hits and there goes the friendly atmosphere that I (and a lot of people) love about CBQ and airsoft in general.

The point that always bothers me is, why? In airsoft, its a pellet gun game. It doesnt matter who wins or loses. Why the hell would you want it too?
I really enjoy the building and modifying aspect of this sport, can I play a decent game? Yes, but, im not here to find out who can do x better, I honestly don't care.

Some people really like ISPC, thats cool. Nothing against them. But honestly, at the end of the day, its a gun that shoots plastic pellets, that started out in the US as something sold out of the back of an ice cream truck. Lets not be too serious now here people.

I am not even worried about this. Rainblow and its members are all the same, regardless of what they seek to do with there lives. you don't make a team into like-minded people, like-minded people make a team, in the sense of what that little shitshow was.

Basically. Glory Hounds,
always trying to be something new, always trying to come in flashy, way more of an idea spitter, then a follow through.

We will see how this plays out.
