player built
« on: March 30, 2013, 10:34:30 AM »
I just recently bought some unincorporated property and am abbout two months into constructing an airsoft field. I got some junks car bodies and cinderblock but am trying to gather a little perspective from my fellow gunfighters. Its located in far east mesa. I was thinking of having a main field and a fenced off cqb area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Right now im concentrating on obstacles and cover.

Sounds nice! I used to help build my old field back east. I was wondering how many acres of land you have?  If you have at least 20 acres, my two cents would be that you build a fire base. Kinda like a command post to put it into layman's terms, but with some serious defensive positions.

Ex. Bunkers, trench systems, fox holes, and some debris like plywood and pallets lining the perimeter.

Depending on the scenario, fire fights can get INTENSE. Loads of fun

Also a good thing to do if you need help building and whatnot, host a build day every now and then, people bring their own tools and building supplies, basically what ever they can find, build stuff for most of the day, and play a few matches with what you built.

After a few build days, you should have a pretty nice field.

What I've found that works well is clusters of buildings somewhat spread around, for a good mix of CQB and field play.

And I'm down to come out and help build, I live fairly close by!  Just shoot me a PM.

sounds awesome, OP!  There aren't too many people who have these types of opportunities, and I'm sure you can find quite a lot of help building this up.

i second the motion of putting together a "build day" event.  I would love to spend a day or two on the weekend putting together some cool stuff for a private field, and I'm sure many others would too!

I third the matter of putting together a build day. If enough people come with donated supplies then it should start to look nice. I'm down to help out sometimes aswell.

Im gonna set up some photos and post them here over the coirse of the week. Thank you guys for the interest and support. I want this place to be built with the players in mind. There will be 2 fenced off cqb areas with a 380 fps limit and med of ten feet. One area will ne team deathmatch ONLY. The other will be various medic and single objective scenarios. The main field will bpen once a week for a scenario game that may involve camping on the groumds. Since its private property i will charge 8 bucks for a 5 hour block and scenario games will vary in price based on length of play.i want YOU to pick scenarios. As long as hits are being called and everyone plays nice...the games will be dictated by YOU...the player.

this just gets better and better. 380 fps for cqb seems a little high  but it will make people call their hits and i would finally be able to use a gbbr without mods for the FPS limit. :) A build day would be nice as it would help move progress of the field being set up and ready for use. Hope to be using this field often

Can we get a little better idea of location?  We talking Gold Canyon east?  Also any other details (if they've been established) like age limits, type of eye pro required, distance to facilities, condition of access road (if applicable).

In regards to the field itself, I'm not sure I see the need to have separate CQB fields for deathmatch and objective games.  380fps also seems a little hot for CQB and in my experience CQB MED's really don't work.  A sat map or at least some idea of the layout of land would allow us to give much better input on field ideas.

I'd strongly recommend sending out an invite/request to some of the senior event organizers to check out the field so they can give you input.  Seeing the field in person is always better than sat pictures.

Yea this place is east of power rd off main. Its right by the stop and shop army surplus store they have agreed to help me advertise. I will be at the fielt tomorrow to drop off some supplies. Its 13 acres. Anxd about 8 acres is open space. Im gonna set up a build day as advised. And well shoot a little once we have some things set up. There wilp be two safe zones  on easch side of the field. A tent will house a grill and tables for game prep and pre game breifing. Im going to need refs soon.
As for 380 fps i know thats a little high but with the med i think it will be ok. This place is goong to to be run by my players. If players unanimously decide something to be changed...it will be so. I will announce the date for the build day next post. This is getting exciting.

The access rd is gravel and will take about 5 mins to get to the field. Age limit is 15 no exeptions. 18 and over can play with full seal eye protection only. Younger wilp need face protection. Again i cant stress enough that other than the basic safety rules this place will be ran by players. I want it set up the way MY PLAYERS want it. So any further idea and questions are greatly appreciated

this place sounds like it can be a great field. here are my two cents, I would put an ad on CL and backpage, letting people know that if they want to get rid of some of their junk that you can take for them. of course you will want to screen what they are bringing. example, I have a friend that has a POS car with no title sitting in his side yard. someday hell eventually get rid of it. some people don't want to pay to dipose of stuff, that is your chance to get stuff for the field free of charge....

look forward to the photos and seeing the progress. just had one question, what county is it in?
