The Power to Clean! Ultrasonic cleaner!
« on: September 16, 2013, 08:19:49 PM »
Hi guys,
Today I picked up this little guy from HF.

Very inexpensive, and big enough to fit almost all gearbox parts except the shell in one go! (Can clean the shell if you flip it half in and out)

Basically, scrubs the metal cleans with vibrations, leaving a remarkably clean and smooth surface!

Been redoing my gearboxes, motors, pistols, and RS.

WORKS fantastic!!!

Figured I would give you all a heads up. leaves a part clean and with a glassy finish!

Haha, its a few inches not a few feet!
:D

But ya, did some gears and a motor last night.

Motor is 100% clean!! Brushes get perfect contact. Spins like a MF.

I love this, definitely investing in the larger unit down the road.

That's what she said.

I couldn't help but notice Exarach but... You seem to have this picture taken of it from what it looks like on top of a toilet bowl and Vaseline right next to it... you sick puppy. :)

29.99 that's cheap for one of those.

I have the $$$ Jeweler's model. It is gonna last longer, but the HF jobbie is well worth the money.
You can get the special ultrasonic soap at Lonnie's, on 44th st. just South of McDowell.

Well this took an odd and unpredictable turn.... :o

I bought one of these guys several years back, pretty sweet. You can buy the soap at HF as well, (at least you could when I got mine) although it's probably not as good as a name brand soap.

It says not to use anything but water and the soap, buuut... I really have been itching to try some mild acidic oil mixtures/Machining oil and see what happens...

Just a note, in case you didn't know. Never put your hands (or any part of your body, Exarach) into an Ultrasonic Cleaner while it's running. It will damage the cartilage in your joints. (although, probably not as severely with the HF one, I've noticed it's not as powerful as the expensive ones)
