Ghillie Suit
« on: February 25, 2002, 10:19:10 PM »
Well, I figured it was about time to make one...  they take a LONG time to make, the best ones are home-made and since I have no job right now, what could be a better time??

Well, I started with a small net with 1" squares.  This will be just an upper torso ghillie suit w/hood.  I only want to make one, so I fugured a base tan would be best, with a bit of olive green, some brown and a little black/gray for shadows and depth.

I decided to use jute instead of burlap so it would be more durable and easier to make.  Anyway, I am doing 4-5 strands per square, skipping rows.  I have been at it for 2 hours already, and I am probably only 10% done...  this is going to be VERY tiring and I now know why the good ghillie suits aren't cheap.

Anyway, as soon as it's done (hopefully by the end of this week) I'll post some pics.

Stoneeaglewolf (Mark) has made several, he is a good resource too.
